I thought it could be interesting to share how we got introduced to the world of personal computers. Coming from the old Soviet Union, I did not have as much choice as the fortunate souls in the West.
My first computer was a DIY named Микро-80 (Micro-80).Keep in mind that a DIY in the Soviet Union was nothing like a DIY in the United States or England. One thing was having the schematics. Another was obtaining the parts. We didn't have Radio Shack. It took me almost a year to gather all the parts. It was based on a Soviet clone of Intel's 8080, the КР580ВМ80А, with a speed of 2.5 MHz. This is a photo I found in Google. Mine didn't look anything like it.

This was my first computer bought after the fall of communism in 89

 

I wish Commodore didnt fuck up there business. Cuz I bet they would be making the best computers out there TODAY.

 

I learnt assembler on this back in the early 80s

 

I’m dyslexic, never could code. so soon gave up on the spectrum, got the bug again when the 128 came out and I could play Elite on it. Next was the Atari and when I discovered you could plug it into the Yamaha DX7 and run this program called Pro 24, that was it really.....

 

The ST was an amazing machine (still is), it is where I first learnt what a sequencer was.

 

That had a pretty good RAM compared to the ZX Spectrum, but the CPU was dog slow in comparison

 

The Commodore C64 was my 1st computer. That was around 1983 I guess.
Before I had a Mattel Intellivision, but not sure if it's called a computer
To get one I told my parents how important it is to learn programming, it's the future.. well, I used it for gaming - guess I wasn't the only one.. (who played "raid over moscow"?)

If only IBM had thought to include MIDI ports on their 8086, they would have won the audio market. Instead, I had to buy a damn DSP card with MIDI in/out

 

AMSTRAD CPC464 Great and affordable with color monitor included... Boring thing was the tape recorder to save and load data...

 

Can't remember if this was before or after getting a Spectrum, it had a calculator, so it computed.

 

Apple II c 1984....booted off large floppy disc. Still have it in original boxes with many years of dust covering the print.

we are a happy family heh heh....

i found a broken one and kept it , did check out the eproms and dream bout to repair it......but later i did got an used c64 version 1 from my parents
