Yeah, I'm aware. My Win10 is the one of the latest v1709 ones, I use a firewall in whitelist mode and only if it's necessary (tested security updates) I update manually using the WSUS tool.

I didn't say I don't ever update my Windows, I always disable windows update service (except when using WSUS). But it's good to clarify that point lol

Edited: I also have two windows partitions, basically: Fun and Work lol. Malware can spread equally, but much harder. Sensitive data always with password, work data in a linux VM (because I'm a web developer, two birds with one stone)

@Xupito We use SCCM and test each update before release to domain, so similar method, still occasionally get caught out. Have estate of approx. 8,500 PCs all high availability. But for average user would recommend just taking the updates or at very min the critical’s.

I'm a freelancer so I work at home, but yeah that's the way to go. When I use the net for job I load Kaspersky IS in "paranoid" mode. If I worked targeting windows machines I would have to change completely my habits, of course.

Last time my computer got infected was testing some warez two months ago. The motherf*er was fast, I've to give it that. But no chance to mess with work or personal files. Other important but not critical files (like program installers themselves) always compressed in archive mode but with password with WinRar.

EDited: and yeah, backups everywhere lol

This is one of those eternal discussions that leads nowhere.

I'm a very experienced Windows user so "I could be the best AV". So:
    1) discard all the warez
    2) buy everything
    3) discard also every app that hasn't the MSoft certicate (like apple forces to). That includes free open source applications
    4) don't surf anything with 3party ads, warez or not.
    ...
    a few more rules here
    ...
Conclussion: get money and get a Mac, or install Linux and verify every open source package code line by line
    If you:
    - Wanna play games
    - Can't buy everything
    - Can't master Linux/Unix/BSD
    - Download porn
    Shoot yourself :suicide::rofl:

PS1: Hackintosh qualifies as untrustable pirate software, discard 'em all

Since I'm in a row (day-off and not using tinder lol) I'm gonna elaborate because this may be interesting for some.

Windows 10 start menu is so tightly integrated with Cortana that makes impossible to remove completely Cortana.

You can disable Cortana but still will have two processes running (one of them is a brand new search service).
If you remove completely those two processes the start menu search won't work. That means "Windows Key" + "program I want to run" won't work. You will need a Classic 7 Start menu replacement.

If you've an old computer the Windows 10 Start menu is nice but very slow. ClassicShell is the best free alternative, but StartIsBack is way better performance wise. It's as low-level as it can get.

OMG you took your time hahahaha

stupid conclusions, apple is reaaly invasive and coded with the feets since a long time now, they made an unix zombi , even more unsafe than a windows one.
if you got some audio gear , most won't work on a linux distrib. and windows 7 is discontinued soon, so more and more gear and audio softwares won't update for this platform.

this thread reminds me the death of win xp , ppl wanted to stick with the os they know, and move to win 7 with a great pain and anxiety.
win10 isn't worse or better than other ms os , if you're a perfect sheep , it will take your wool , like mac os or android will do, it's the industrial model today.
So take of what you are doing, don't get stuck on obsolete os like 7 or mac os ,if you're not in specific works that needs win or apple drivers and platform , go debian or another linux distrib , use nas for intensive net activity

win 10 with glary, some customisation with gpedit, some host modifications,it will runs fine, everybody search perfect os , i can tell you , it won't come.

I think you haven't even read my post.
Not only I use windows 10 but that post was only about the "You're the best AV" cliche.
    Perhaps clicked wrong reply button?

Anyway, bad way to express your thoughts...
