I think Brainworx will continue to make emulations,so they will release synth emulations like subtractive synths,and maybe Unfiltered Audio will make digital,modern syntheseizers,like Wavetable and FM synths.

 

A synthesiser with built in freeze function (essentially automatic multisampling, like DiskoDSP Bliss) would be something innovative and usefull !

I had so much admiration for DS Audio. I own all his plugs. Doubt I'll be supporting him/them anymore. Imagine how expensive his shit is going to be now.

I own all 3, Tantra, Diversion and Thorn but I am a bit confused.
Will the rest two be ported over to PA and will they too require the 'upgrade fee'?

Not sure how I feel about this, it is obviously good for a developer to have the backup of PA but I really believe current customers shouldn't have to pay that fee. It is not the concern of the customer what the cost for the server is.

But I feel that I will pay that fee nevertheless.

 

Same here. Is it gonna cost me $60 to keep my DS plugins supported? I'll consider this 20 dollar fee, but I've written to DS about this one month expiration. It's absolutely exploitative

About PA, if you suscribe to their newsletter you can have really crazy discounts, and one monthly voucher depending on how much you've spent during the year up to 75$ that you can use even on discounted plugin, and their plug-in are really nice imho.

About DS, I'm a big fan, and I don't think that we'll have to pay a fee for Diversion and Tantra, because I guess there wont be any update:

"As for future plans, DS Audio is intensively working on Diversion 2 now, which will be released at Plugin Alliance this year. After that we start working on Tantra 2. Both Diversion 2 and Tantra 2 will provide much more new features and improvements than their current versions. We hope to port all our existing plugins before 2019 ends. So in 2020 DS Audio products will be exclusively distributed by Plugin Alliance."

 

this is bad news, how in the world do they think will sell more at those prices? ...everyone wil buy on discount so he joined PA for its high prices, he still gets its part but also PA benfits from his work, thats a stupid move... i wont buy anything DS related, and PA should have kept its brainworks, spl and elysia stuff ...personally i dont like when a big company eats/join (in) a small one, and here i feel its more about greed ...let alone their discounts, you have to spend big to get to those... i think DS lost a nig part of its customers, those who could afford its plugins, the new Diversion 2 will cost 349 + vat, and Tantra 2 199+ vat ...this is dumb stupid.

Yeah, I think I will send him an email too. I mean if you own Thorn already why should you be rushed to buy the PA version? It feels as this was forced on DS Audio by PA to earn some fast money by the transition.

PA prices aren't that high if you actually buy their stuff. Vouchers + discounts/sales make them about as cheap as any decent developer.

 

That's the modern marketing,the original price is super overpriced justifying their high quality products but they show you how they are gratefull towards you so they offer you super deals so you "steal" them.It's a well oiled process.

 

Can comfirm. I sell working gloves over the phone for a living. Always just found an old batch in a corner somewhere, cleaning the shelves, painting the storage or something. Sometimes moving the entire fucking shop. People feel lucky, and hoarding-mode turns on.
