I like to know whats the 2019 state of the art in this field?
I know there are tons of plugs from different Developers, and the basically do the same.
Are there fundamental differences in quality?
Whats the use of multiband transient design , share your experience if possible?

I use Schaack TS 2 and the XLN DS-10, years ago i used SPL Transient Designer, which i liked as well.

Newer & maybe „better“ ones out there?

Whats up with Transient Tools providing analog/rounder/warmer transient design? Or is that basically a saturation tool?

I once did my own little shootout including SPL, Voxengo TransGainer, Schaak, iZotope Ozone, TransReckon and just a compressor with increased attack time, low threshold and higher ratio to enhance transients.
All I can say is that each one sounded different, one not necessarily worse than the other (although Schaak was the first one I got rid of). IMHO the more deeply you can adjust the algorithm, the better it is.
Melda MTransientMB is another nice one, as is Sonnox TransMod.

A very useful setup is one that allows for multiple parallel paths e.g. using a plugin chainer in which you can add filters, EQ, adjust levels and different timings for each path - a modular transient designer in its true sense, so to say.

SPL Transient Designer is very simple and efficient,
of newer stuff, Waves Smack Attack works surprisingly well,
hardcore (but amazing) way is Fabfilter Saturn

Alloy 2 is one of the most pleasant sounding multiband transient designers ive used, although setting negative sustain in large amounts makes it sound very artifical. Shaak Audios one is very strong and agressive and is useful for more energetic forms of music. Sonnox and SPL are like a midground to me in terms of being able to mod some of the parameters and adjusting the sound design to the audio. There are also loads of cool ones ive seen but not tried.

I got my hands on a demo of Oeksound Spiff. When I'll buy this, it's game over for me, instant toss everything else. Others worth mentioning: Softube transient shaper, Neutron transient shaper (multiband) and Newfangled Punctuate.

I'm surprised no one mentionned Boz Transgressor, very powerfull, complete and easy to use transient designer:
    - separate controls, gains & eq for transient and for sustain
    - adjustable timing for transients & sustain
    - adjustable lookahead (more than welcome for transient shaping!!!)
    - sidechain
    - mix knob
It allow you to just enhance or go "sound design" crazy with any sound, great tool that have replace many other transient shapers in my toolbox.

PS: Otherwise I go with kHs Transient Shaper when i'm in a hurry or looking for very simple but effective tool: once you have set the attack and the sustain, his "pump" control and the visual feedback makes it really easy to dial in the sound you want!

Despite being 2008, It's much more 'state of the art' than most other transient designers combining that, EQ, and imaging. Unfortunately, it doesn't have good marketing so it's relatively unknown as a transient designer.

A post i found about what Mjuc can do
to a signal instead pure compression,
    more like a waveshaper :

„I can't believe how deep this plugin is. You can really use it as a "shaper" without ever seeing the gain reduction meter even move. I highly recommend testing the mk3 version in this way. Set density on, interstage transformer on, then crank up the drive to betweem 7 and 10 and set the input calibration as desired (I usually end up in between -10 and 0, depending on signal type and how loud it is).

Once you've done this, start playing around with the punch slider thing.. and also with the attack and release knobs if you happen to get a tiny amount of compression going. Also don't forget the timbre knob.

My point is: This thing is deep like crazy! You can transform the dynamics and overall timbre of a track in very subtle ways even without having the gain reduction meter move at all. This is exactly how a lot of complex analogue equipment works. A lot of things happen to the transients at the various stages of the unit. They can be a bit tricky to hear at first but once you "get it" you can start using this thing for so much more than just compression.“

Sonic Anomaly Transpire and FLUX Bittersweet3.
Transient designers can also be stacked for more drastic effect.

I used to use SPL Transient Designer and FLUX BitterSweet, but I started using Voxengo Transgainer instead, as it gives me better and cleaner sounding results.

    insane-multiband transient designer.
great for overcompressed stuff, be it accidental or on purpose.

I tend to stay away from anything multiband unless it has linear phase crossovers, and then it always introduces big latency and CPU hit. Such plugins are usually for mastering, not tracking. But hey, if it sounds good [those without linear phase crossovers]...
