I have mac snow leopard in vmware workstation.
The mac hangs after a while when i am not using it.
I don't know why but it always happens to me.
Plus the sound is random pops/clicks here and there.
It's in all programs that plays sound. Probably bad soundcard virtualization computer emulation.

Try turning off screensaver/display sleep maybe (in System Preferences).

i agree could be the screensaver - because the vmware isnt supporting the screensaver+ special graphic features.

random pops/clicks do you have enough memory and it could be you need a better interface/ sound card
and if you are using a USB interface don't i tried to us a usb interface one time and i got all that pops/clicks i had to go with a firewire one

what about the graphic RAM? VRAM? normally VM sets it to 4MB - turn it all the way up to 128MB.

to run mac in a pc you need a good powerful pc like i3 or i5 and at least 4gbs memory or more.

seems like your vm version doesnt allow to set the VRAM manually.
    what version is this?
btw why 1000MB? set it to 1024 MB.
running OSX SL 10.6.8 with 2048MB RAM on a phenom ii X4 945 and it runs smooth here.

but why you want OSX running there?

Update on Serials-VMware-workstation-full-9.0.2-1031769. Unlocker needed. GIYF.
SnowLeoVM runs smoother with 2GB Memory Allocation. Always use the newest VMware Tools  .

upgrade to v9 it works better for mac. or use virtualbox like i do.
it works ok for ableton and some AU's to try with.
really hope we will see Logic Pro X for windows aswell as some rumor say.
