    Hi,

Does anyone use Lemur for Ipad?

What are its main features? Is it worth buying?
Could you use it as a midi controller?

    Thanks

PS: I tried researching about it but there is very little information about that on web. Very few youtube videos available.

I don’t own Lemur, but a midi controller is precisely what it is. What makes it different from a “standard” controller is that it is fully customizable (I believe creating/editing templates has to be done on the laptop though unless that has now changed) and users can share their custom templates. There’s a few developers that have created custom controllers for their plugins such as Wide Blue Sound’s SkyPad for their Kontakt instruments Orbit and Eclipse. Also Twisted Tools has one for Ultraloop, GlitchMachines has one Fragment, among others...

I have Lemur and a dedicated iConnect midi interface (keeps it charged), it sounds like a great idea and it looks cool at gigs. I guess if you do a lot of live work, you need a flexible midi controller and already have an iPad it’s not a bad call, but it hasn't really got much use from me. Please note, not seen an update for it in quite some time……

This individual creates awesome lemur sets and templates for cubase. But he explains how he does that, so you can do it yourself. Look YouTube for his channel. And Junkie XL's new template setup videos are on the way in Studio Time series. I think he will show how he used lemur (or lemur like app, but probably lemur) in his template aswel.

Lemur is cool and always depends on what you get from such an experience...from my own the whole controlling a DAW, changing dynamics thing from an iPad very appealing but mostly useless in my own terms...for me cool but no real use...for others tho could be cool

So should we connect out ipad to the computer and control midi cc through lemur app?
Can we set articulations as well?

From what I understand, yes using Lemur as a controller for your laptop DAW/plugins is what it does best. It can control MIDI/OSC so theoretically I would assume it can also control other iOS music apps that have coreMIDI too, however Liine never actually states this on the Appstore product page.. It's primary intent is to be a customizable touch screen DAW/Plugins/Hardware controller. If you use Ableton Live it comes with a tailor made controller called LiveControl2. And I see now that editing can be done in-app.. Again, I don’t own Lemur but I thoroughly researched it a few times and intended to buy it but just never pulled the trigger.. I would ask the other guys who posted after me for better advice as they do own the app and know way more about its functionality than I do.. Good Luck, Cheers

If its articulations you’re after this guy used to do premium templates for Lemur as "artsunmuted" but just tried his website and it’s no longer available. He started up a new company called metagrid essentially doing a similar thing but with his own midi framework rather than Lemur I would take a serious look at his new site before jumping on Lemur, as Lemur looks more and more like it’s become abandon ware...

Metagrid on the other hand is still in active development, its not quite Lemur but its seriously powerful.

On the iPad, out of MidiDesigner Pro, TBMidiStuff, TouchOSC and Lemur, I can say that Lemur is the deepest in terms of pure MIDI control and processing options.
If you want a photorealistic control surface, your best bet will be TBMidiStuff because you can import background images and custom knobs, sliders, buttons etc.
Both require some of your time to learn how to use them, especially Lemur.
The others are a bit easier to use and certainly good enough if all you want is a few knobs, faders and buttons sending MIDI messages.
I don't mind that Lemur and TBMidiStuff are not updated regularly, as long as they're running fine on the latest iOS version.
