Do you remember what synths you used back then? Am I hearing some Big Fish Audio loops in that track too? Good stuff, man!

What I was up to in 1997... had a trained soprano underwing (was reworking rachmaninoff et al)

cubase, asr10, jd800; first verse was lifted straight off grateful dead; second verse I did my own thing (no vox here):bow::bow::bow: {{added piano just to make sure that was on stage wherever we played}}'

I never actually got in to the music making stuff (I visit here cause I do restoration & mastering) but growing up in the 90s I was IN LOVE w/ the talent of this guy Necros (Andrew Sega) from the MOD/S3M era. Holy crap. Friends in high school thought I was ridiculous listening to "computer music" but he could really grab me w/ every one of his new releases. There'd always be a hook.....brilliant stuff.

A few favorites of mine playing on a period era player:
    Tangerine Fascination:

At the time I used only FL stock plugins, there was not much of choice, since the vst support was not so good, but for filters it was always Northpole vst. At that time used lot of different DAWs, mainly FL2, Reason 2.5?, Cubase VST5/SX, and I can´t really recall what used, I may have even used all of them just to get sound/effect that I wanted

At the time we [my band] used an Atari STE 1040 with Cubase 2, DiY mixer [made by me!] and a couple of trashy synths like Ronald D-20, W-30, MT-32 [our first "proper" synth LOL], Jupiter-4 [got it in exchange for C64 LOL], SH-101, TR-808, TB-303, R-8, Krog-707, Poly-800, Kuwai K-1 and an E-Fax SE rack. Shame I can't find those recordings we made. I only have a "Smalltown Boy" remix we made one night drunk at the studio...

I only began using PC for music in about 1997. The band was history then already. Shame.

btw. I was a singer and a songwriter. Afterwards started mixing and mastering, and servicing PCs... my mate from the band became a really good mixing and mastering engineer, too, but he is programming websites now, has been for about 10-ish years, since the studio he worked in didn't do very well... and I've been into PC maintenance for 20-ish years. Life is weird.

Hey, I've found something interesting I'd like to share. It is a remix I've done for Celldweller. Definitely sounds like 90s, even though I've done it sometime in 2000. I can't exactly remember what gear I used, but it was probably Uberheim Matrix-6 and Fukai S950. Enjoy.

You got some gear there, I am poor boy and my only synth is CS1x, I wish I could get one of those MIDI parts for C64, but maybe next year, I just started reoccupied/relearned(don´t know the correct word) as an electrician, because there isn´t much jobs to do at decent salary, but I take it as advance, since I can start build my own gear

That was in the early 90s... we sold all of it, and I acquired some new ones later in '95, more modern: Krog Wavestation, Fuqsonic ASR-10, Fukai S-950, Ronald Promars, Farp Axxe, Krog Polysix, and finally Uberheim Matrix-6. Unfortunately I sold all that in 2001 when I moved to Taiwan to teach English. When I got back, I was "synthless". Just VST.

I especially cannot get over Matrix-6. Really nice sounding synth, and soooo programmable! And ASR-10 is a really great sounding sampler, sooo inspiring. I don't really need ASR-10 now, since I have enough samplers, but Matrix is out of reach for me now.

I'm one of those who would starve if needs be just to acquire a piece of gear I want. In other words - crazy mofo.
