I think you would benefit to work more on drop down and buildup, swoosh it down and build it up automating cut off on synth lines and filtering drums, drowning in reverb and just giving statement that something is changing and it's going to explode....just usual approach which give better results than just static introducing elements and drum rolls&fills.

Line that starts @1:22 is catchy so you got something, I don't find interesting one finger style lines till 0:44, IMO you would benefit to make the things more interesting in that part.

Also noticed that you dig that popular sound, many of that artist combine very catchy piano lines or just hooky emotional parts in brake downs(motifs), something to cool off the people, to make girls wet and than start building from there resolving in explosive main line, so try incorporating that, I think you will benefit to just have some diversity to give that actual line more energy, like you go outside on cold and return to your room which was previously cold and after visiting cold outdoors your room is so warm suddenly, that kinda of deal is that IMO.
