My expectations from the Internet are almost over. Steady and gradual decline of enthusiasm in using internet like other phenomena is happening now and the next decade is probably the realization of its entrepreneurs' common nightmare.

I'm talking about the ebullience and the great wills to exhibit new services by providers and luring people into devoting their times and attentions to them.

    What do you think?

I don't know where to start, but words can't express how grateful I am for the internet and all of its knowledge. It even provides companionship despite anyone's shortcomings, and has been a conduit of hope straight from heaven itself. I feel blessed to be able to log into such a phenomenon... Hoping my tiny attempts to send ripples of gratitude into the world wide web could ever be enough, to give back will be a lifelong work in progress:thumbsup:

The saving grace, for the moment, is that it remains possible to survive without an internet connection. When AR (augmented reality) kicks in, when it becomes the default method of interacting with the world and all of the people around you, it won't be so easy to ignore the corporate-owned grapevine of a technologically connected semi-sentient species known as "A.I."

    [cue horror sting #107] :)

reminds me of an old joke from the 1899 edition of Punch magazine.a genius asked "isn't there a clerk who can examine patents?" A boy replied "Quite unnecessary, Sir. Everything that can be invented has been invented."

well now, even my simply being able to read in my home what you just typed in your home and vice versa still smacks of witchcraft to me, even after all these years.

so bring it on, whatever it might be in the future.

I think that you're mixing up the internet with the people using it.
It's them who make the difference.

I think this is just getting started, there's so much technological advances on the horizon from which everyone of them will open up a can of other possibilities that will eventually all be exploited by us and then by that time there's someone else like you who thinks we've seen it all and bang... there we are again on the brink of new developments... yada yada yaadda... if you think logical how can you come to your conclusion? :dunno:

Internet? mmm.. is a very stupid thing.. it's ok,, nothing amazing.. computers ? mm.. they don't need internet... to do jobs.
maybe we don't need more "inventions.. " but better way to distribute things, well.. who needs the internet when have 10,000 atomic bombs. and atomic plant..s.. one of these days we are going to have a problem here.. maybe in 100 years.. or 20.. or 300 .. internet is nothing. and all inventions mean nothing if we continue doing things like we do today ... money.. power.. military power.. it is like a dead end., we just can't do better than that., humans.. think they are the best , maybe finding a better way.. of creating all this energy we consume like animals.. oil .. anyway.. nobody can do anything about it .. maybe create STupid songs to make other Humans more stupid than they are... love songs.. with flowers and beautiful colors.. to make the all more stupid.

why do many people with truthful messages tell them in a manner that sounds so spacey/too wavy for normal people? so ineffective imo :dunno:

it's not the manner. the thing is most people don't care at all and they DON'T WANT to listen to this stuff. they would rather live their life and ignore all of this. i can't really blame them.

technological evolution means nothing if the man keeps de-evolutioning

Internet, like every tool, is what we do with it and what we allow others to do with it.

There are actually a lot of powers, from US to Europe and China, Russia Turkey, Cuba etc... That are limiting it's use because they see how dangerous can be the exchange of ideas for their need of power. While we allow that, internet will have a limited social impact.

At the same time, these same powers have learned how to descredibilize and low down the level of any media, including internet, to make it less interesting.

But still, if you look at it from a global perspective, not only yours, you will see how incredibly important and useful it can be. As an example, think about doctors all around the world able to keep up to date about new treatments and disease screening techniques. This is only one example, there could be thousands.

In music, instead of hopping for the next supersurprising thing, if you work on any skills, playing an instrument, mixing, composing etc... Internet gives you access to a world of information.

As always, if you don't know how to determine what is good, what you need etc.. you will have a problem with internet, as you would have one with a hammer.
The problem with tools is always on the handle side.

    I think the opposite.
Internet is a good thing for people's rights(information),they can more easily communicate with it for example,it's amazing for the knowledges easy to reach too.
Computers are fantastic for some works, the sciences or the music for example, but a poison for humanity in some sense because it (could) replace(s) humans (further down).

Yes,I agree, for me the truth is in internet, not in TV shows.
But when you say that some people call you a conspiracy theorist.

    Truth resides in knowledge.

Internet, tv or books they are just medium.
They are just freaking pipes, there will be new ones in less than 10 years.
In 10 years internet will be what TV is now. Laughed at.

We'll always be send back to how we use them, what we put in them, which we use.

Printed books were first use to ease the circulation of the word of god, with the invention of printing, don't think anyone here think that was the greatest thing in itself. Then it became a source of enlightement. Finally, well...Distraction, knowledge, propaganda, etc.

We get to decide what book we read, what forum we view, what knowledge we seek.

But it's just a freaking screen.

Edit : and no tool has ever been neutral. Langage that dominated books when they weren't printed yet was Latin, which was one more wall in the way of commons to get to the goods. The main material revolution was the invention of printing, but it would have been a lot less impactfull it it wasn't accompanied by the use of local common langages in it. That allowed the ideas to circulate amongs all kind of people. Which did have a huge impact, over the course of several centuries.
Today there are many walls to the access of internet. Why do you think a certain part of the world population is over-represented here ?
It's a tool that discrminates, for now. Not only between rich and poor nations. Not just between countries with solid communication infrastructures vs the ones without.
But inside countries there are massive variations in the access to internet and the use of it.
It's not at all, today, a universal too.
It took a while to literate people and create the conditions for books to have an impact. Even then poor people couldn't buy any. So we invented libraries. It got better. Etc.

The internet era has just begun in my opinion. It will be implemented a lot more in our daily life in the next 10-20 years.
At the moment I would say Augmented reality will be the next big step in the evolution of the internet. Combining our "(real) daily life" (I hate that term) visually with the network.
Amazon is probably already working at some kind of an augmented reality alexa.

in a lot of areas, the network is a real benefit for humanity. For a single human being instead, it brings as many disadvantages as advantages.
