Tried the demo of this spl vitalizer and came to really like it.. But the price tag is way over my head at this point so im wondering if someone has or using any plugin similair to it. Maybe even o combination to be abel to do the same thing, or close atleast.

I know there was a "try and buy if you like" version out a few years ago but i really want to know if there are other plugins, maybe even doing better than Vitalizer does.. and it really does some amzing things on kicks etc..

    Any suggetions?

The same thing would be difficult because, afaik, it's the only de-esser which works with phase cancellation. All the others work with compression, although some of them are not simple 'dynamic eqs'.

EDIT: don't ask me why I responded to 'de-esser'. I really need more sleep, sorry.

I own a Vitalizer Jack (hardware). AFAIK, there's nothing like it other than the SPL plug-in version.

It's basically an exciter, so try other exciters.

Depending on which model you're referring to, it's actually not an exciter. It doesn't add harmonics. SPL don't actually say how it works other than it's doing some dynamic EQ-ing and phase manipulation. At least that's the case for the Vitalizer Jack.

"The Stereo Vitalizer Jack is an equaliser concept which makes use of audiometric technology to process audio signals. The unique combination of dynamic equalisers, amplitude-controlled phase correction, harmonic filtering and stereo expanding opens up a whole new listening dimension by adapting the sound pattern to the non-linearities of the human ear."

Quite right. I have UAD's SPL Vitalizer MK-2-T and it's one of the strangest plugins. Honestly, I don't know all the things it does under the hood but on some materials it's just magic. On others it may be just "too much".
All in all a great hardware/plugin if you know where and how to use it.

when it comes to spl vitalizer alternatives
    these Plugs comes to mind
    • "Clariphonics DSP MKII" Kush Audio
    • "Aphex Vintage Exciter" Waves
    • "Vitamins" Waves
    • "Spectre" WavesFactory
    • "Saturn" Fabfilter
    • "BBE" BBE
    • "SPL Twin Tube" Plugin Alliance
    • "Cosmos" Nomad factory
    • "TR5 Saturation X" IK Multimedia

    Alternatively
a "send aux with mixture of EQ & compression & distortion & Widener" can get you close to there

    Example
    • [Original Track] = -6db |Output = "Sound A" Sum Bus|
      [Send Track] "EQ > Comp > Distortion Widener" = (-12db to -16db) |Output = "Sound A" Sum Bus|
      [Sound A Sum Bus]

"Shape the [Send Track] to desire taste then mix it back to the original then output them both to a sum bus"

Hardware one is brilliant for widening the stereo image of certain tracks, as an exciter, and for bass compression.

The ITB one is good for bass compression and as an exciter.

At first it might be a bit uncomfortable to use, but once you got what the controls do, you'll love it, and you'll know exactly when you want to use it.

Very useful for background sounds - pads, booms, strings, bass guitar, guitar, ambient sounds. Love it!

I've been using my SPL Vitalizer mk2-T for years, love it on the Nord Lead 3, and the only VST that came close by now is the free "Nasty series" from varietyofsound, namely NastyHF and NastyLF.
    Windows only!
I didn't compare the low end enhancer with anything else yet, but I tried a lot of exciters and NastyHF was the most musical of all, no matter what price. "Bootsy" from varosound likes to play around with new algorithms and with these he really found a sweet spot, at least for my taste.

Edit: It's still available on the fantastic wayback machine:
