spot on my friend. Most of all I did enjoy the hats and perc. For my taste the drive is a little overdone at the synth that is coming in around 4:25. Again the hi-hats are siiiick.

Well, an internesting fusion of Ambient and Electronica. Personally, I think the beats are wrong for the drone. I think if you're calling anything Ambient, the beats should sound less prominent. I don't mean quieter in the mix but that your drone should be complemented by the beats and sound much more electronic, maybe a bass or synthy beat, not dance drum beats. The beats with Ambient should sound more like Trance or Psy beats, but obviously much slower.

Mixwise I'd alter some things: narrow up to ~ 900Hz (serious phase issues), lower mid & raise side (m/s), lower 100 - 200Hz, raise ~ 4kHz side for several dB and mid a bit less, add limiter with -1dB output and a bit limiting so rms stays the same.
It would benefit from some more (analogue emu) treatment, though.

    Would sound like this sketch:

    No Avenger,
First of all thank you for showing interest :).
I wanted the track to remain slightly darker to maintain the serene and tranquil feel .I think the 4k boost slightly alters that.Regarding further analog treatment, i tried and switched back and forth and i did not like what it did to the bass and depth of highs in this particular case. From a technical stand point what you suggested is right ,there is a dip in the spectrum in the high frequency range.:like:I purposefully made every decision on this track from an artistic viewpoint, which is not at all common in my case.Trying to see how it will affect the way i make music. There is no limiter on the master either only a clipper.I like the dynamic range and the overall movement, for a change.

Hey, can you post your version without the 4k boost?

Again, No avenger your detailed analysis and suggestions have always been helpful. I hope that you do the same on all further endeavors.:)

Me too. Many times I begin grinding my teeth while being subjected to what is commonly referred to as music while being tortured by my beautiful teenaged daughter's listening habits while chauffeuring her from one location to another in the car. Water boarding might be preferable to this torture... no, definately.

i need this on my local library! :D

edit- wow this is amazing dude, wish i knew how to do this stuff, really makes me inspired, great track. only thing i'm not sure about is the acid line that comes towards the end, sounds a bit too bright at the start, right? contrasts a bit with the darkness/obscure theme of the song. but it's not a big deal at all because you put it at the right volume, definitely a nice track.

I was already afraid you made that on purpose. [IMG]

    No prob:

And one alternative, just for fun, with a bit more frequency specific m/s treatment:
