Having pushed 70 and arrived at the 40th anniversary of Equinoxe, JMJ decided to do an album using a similar sonic palette, and it's not half bad.

‘Equinoxe Infinity’ uses the following hardware and software: Yamaha CS80, EMS VCS3, ARP2600, Eminent 310, EMS Synthi AKS, Keio Minipops, Mellotron D4000, Roland Paraphonic RS-505, Korg PA600, Korg Polyphonic Ensemble, Korg MS20, Tasty Chips GR1, Erica Synths Modular System, Teenage Engineering OP1, Roland System 500 modules 1 + 8, Nord Lead 2, Nord Modular, Electro-Harmonix Small Stone, Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress, Moog Sub37, Moog Taurus 1, Animoog, Omnisphere, Native Instruments Kontakt, Native Instruments Reaktor, Synapse Audio Dune 2, Spitfire, Replica ST, Boom, Valhalla, u-he Satin, DigiSequencer.

I must disagree, simply because that there is no right or wrong in music, just different... because of that "standard" we have so much same overdone mixes and masters out there, and for me, I didn't expect anything else from JMJ tbh.

if the vibe is good, nothing really matters. :) and I must say that I dig this.

    P.S.
Iet's be clear about something, there are fails in music production generally, but I think that is not the case with this, not by a long shot.

The album is a celebration of his own ego, in most of the songs he auto-celebrate his 70' / 80's era: Jarre imitating himself

There are songs where he tries to say something different, and those are the worst: absolutely no new ideas. Any teenager in his home studio has a fresher sound than jarre

    A really bad album

Slightly better than O3 - which was a perfect piece of s-hit. That says it all.
Absolutely nothing here is of any worth.

It's on the car usb stick in the car and waiting to be listened to.

It's curious that Equinoxe Infinity has the first word with the French spelling of equinox (and the first e should have an accent) but the second word with the English spelling of infinity.

As far as the comments above and people wanting to hear something verty different; he created his unique sound when he started in the 70s. That is his sound. Why should he change that? Just because his sound was pioneering in the 70s, you shouldn't necessarily expect it to drastically evolve with every album, especially if that formula is successful. I expect to hear a typical 'Jarre sound' and nothing too different. If you love Jarre, this is what you should be expecting and enjoying.

  10. Kraftwerk. The whole point of the live show is to sound exactly like they always did.

You can never escape your back catalogue.

As Fudsey mentioned. Bottom line is that it's a record company business, and they will always have the final decision on pressing the CD or not. If they think an artist's sound has veered too far from what fans already love and have bought in their millions, they probably wouldn't be too confident that it would 'sell' as well as the previous material that created the current fan base. Yes, there have been many cases of artists that were expected to be experimental and bravely changing styles, evolving with every release, too many to mention, but think of Bowie with his many 'characters' and the Progressive Rock of the 70s which had an expectation of the sound evolving.

Having said all this, if you're starting out, it is possible to give them demos of a varying styles for them to choose from.
