I did a lot of research beginning Cyber Monday to build a new rig. After 10 hours of research and deal hunting I landed on this custom setup for $988. Let's hear thoughts on price point and performance!

    Nice one.
I would take a 3000mhz ram. To be honest you won't notice at all If the ram (cl) is 10 or 10.5 ns fast. But you might notice 300+ mhz ram speed.
Why 3000 MHz? I read an article last week about a ram speed test. Up till 3000mhz, they noticed a quite big performance increase of a test system. Everything above 3000 was not that much of an improvement. So the conclusion was, best performance per buck rating is 3000mhz at the moment. Of course, this was a common benchmark test, not a special test for a music pc.

You can get this for about 1400€ in EU, maybe a bit less if you go hunting and buy from different stores. And with $-€ exchange this means almost 1600$. ENVY! Do they think we're all millionaires here.. :snuffy:

Kidding! Enjoy your build! Post some tunes.. :)
