    Anyone compared these two?
The BX SSL E has been updated some time ago, sound wise, with the official SSL stamp.

I have SAND and it's a beast. We can try to make a comparison ourselves if someone has BX SSL.

One thing is sure, you can run many instances of the bx console plugin, even on a laptop, while you can not afford to do this with Sand.

Sand wins. Hands down. Dynamic convolution sounds always pleasing, convincing and very close to an equivalent of hardware. But it still uses too much CPU for me. I take the algo that sounds fantastic and 92% like the hardware with quite low CPU usage any day over the dynamic convolution that sounds outstanding and 98% like the hardware with the CPU usage of a nuclear submarine :winker:

Nevertheless, I would love to see a well-made comparison of these two great plugins.

How about using bx with Nebula preamp and console treatment before rendering?

I'm in for that. We should devise a medium to make the comparison fair.

You know how the compressor in the Waves SSL E Channel has that awesome snap to it? Like on a snare or whatever. Does SAND do that too? (I haven't tried it). Does anyone know if the Brainworx E Channel does it?

I've gotten heavily into the SSL style of mixing lately, on the Waves E Channel. Been thinking really heavily about buying the Brainworx E channel if it goes on sale soon. The UAD version sounds great but (maybe like SAND) it'd be nice to be able to run more than one or two of them in a mix. I need more like 20 or 30 at least sometimes. Even around 50 occasionally if it's an album mix. I'd be able to run ONE INSTANCE off my Apollo Twin haha.

At least you can try the trial of BX to find out that if it’s your taste or not!
If you get what you needed then go for pickpack,
About the comp section, Just love that attack’s on fast attack mode, ye baby :*
I have all those 3 consoles on different channels and they are amazingly awesome

I have the Bx SSl-E and it sounds amazing!Between their 3 consoles for me it's the one I like the most.Once you put SSL-E on a track, your track sounds sweet right now, before tweaking anything. The compressor is a beast, everything sounds dense, big, powerfull, the Eq is perfect, warm;you can push high frequencies without any harsh.Really an awesome plugin!
I have the 3 consoles since few days so I need more experience with them, but if you buy it you won't go wrong for sure, they really bring something to your mixes, not like some plugins like Arturia or Softube consoles,it's another planet!

One of the members here made a shootout on soundcloud, lookup SSl 4k drunken monkey. It might help a bit. Personally AA had the right crunch tones but BX has another set of awesome tones convolution style. Good luck

    "with the official SSL stamp."

    Meh!!

    It's all 'bout the MONEY.

Just look at how MANY vendors that uses "officially stamp/names"?

Especiall if you go to the guitar amp sim category it's' even worse as their you see tons of REAL brandnames on many different ampsims and sometimes as in audio effects their more than ONE that are the exact official user for that particular amp.

I am so sick of this
Well as so many ppl being stupid i get that they try to fool them.
It has gone so far that even Mesa Boogie now have their name on ampsims.

I onced answer a post on some forum when somone pointed out
"UAD is the official makers of that particular amp just saying"
He meant of course it should sound best out of all ampsim versions.

The answer was a link to plugin alliance who ALSO was an official maker of that amp.

    No,I think you're mistaken;when it sounds good I say it's good,when it's mediocre I say it's mediocre.
I downloaded the Elysia Karacter at the same time and I must say I don't find it outstanding, for example. But the SSL-E/G are really good.(For my ears)

But I agree on this,it's also for the money!

Bought the BXX SSL E after demoing it for 5min. You can mix a whole record with this channel strip and a good reverb.
    Its that good.

When I used it, my solution was to add some AA/Nebula Neve/API flavors when tracking, and then mix in the SSL E console. It seemed like a good combo to my ears.

to my ears and with limited knowledge, the E's sound darker than the G's and SAND DOES seem to add more information and more air top and bottom..reatining the clairty but adding some muslces and warmth. is that quite hard to do?...i actually like the ANalog obsession one..its nearly there in comparison with SAND..what have they done with AO to get it nearly there...they don't cost the earth either from what i remember? :)
