Yes and no is the best answer.

The main guy is on hiatus (probably never to return), another of the heads apparently died (no real proof on this claim tho, just a lot of speculation that came from the Wavelab6 nfo).

Some other members are still around, if u look hard enough u still see their names appearing here and there.

Occasionally u get an AIR release that is usually based on an old keygen and still works with current software (nothing more).

The info on Gouda dying is in the keygen for spectrasonics product range - the keygen was so well done it is still working even with the latest updates. The real mystery is in some of the later releases that were good (even R2R praised them!) but the question remains who exactly did it - since they were small it could have been AD working alone. But Team AiR is history - never to happen again. We now have to invest our hopes in V.R (let me not say - unfortunately)

A.i.R was the best in there days and was got me into crack software, always did gr8 keygens and the music, i think the first soft i dl from them was ableton live.7.0.3 which i still have somewhere, and cubase 5 was a gr8 feast of reverse engineering which took over 1000 man hours to crack, teams come and go, old teams dissapear and new teams take there place, peace out then aSSign and now R2R, the thing to remember is that do it because they can and make no money from it, some have day jobs i guess, which make me laugh when you see posts asking where are R2R ect, just the other day was a post about Discover, then yesturday and today boom, nothing lasts forever and now VR seem to be releasing alot of good stuff, and as always we must be gratefull that these teams exist, most people including me would not have the money to try and buy most plugins, so respect to all teams, happy xmas all

    FAQ:

Q: Is it true that AiR got millions of dollars from Steinberg for not releasing new crackz?
A: No - we only got a blowjob per day!
But we collected all the conspiration-theories we found all
over the internet during the last years and we'll sell it now
to hollywood for the next James Bond production for at least 1 billion!

Q: But we had to wait so damn long for this release - Why?
A: The amount of time to analyze and reverse the current
syncrosoft implementation was just that high.
Think about it like this: around 25% of the program code is MCFACT protected and therefore protection-related.
As you can imagine the effort to analyze and reverse such a target is incredibly high.
This time it took us almost 4000 man hours to emulate the little beast!

Q: Will it work with the 64bit version? Are there plans to make a release of the 64bit version?
A: No and No! Nevertheless it will perfectly work as a
    32bit application on a 64bit OS like Windows7.
Q: Who the fuck is Gouda?
A: One of the two heads behind all the previous syncrosoft emulations.

This is my kind of get well soon greetings to you brother!
If you really have to leave this world that young it would definitely be the end of an era!
It has always been a pleasure to work with you (well DELPHI still suxx)
and I really wish we could have done this project together too!

Q: What do you you think about peace-out?
    A: Bunch of wannabe crackerz.
None of their current releases work properly.
They don't even understand the basics of the protection.
We're happy to see other groups "giving it a go" if those other groups can produce quality.
We don't see that with peace-out, really they should leave the big boys pool
and go play with the toddlers.
Q: What do you think of open forums who spread AiR's internal work without respect and before the time?
    A: Fu@k you!

There's actually a really good interview with one of the Air guys, mostly about making music for keygens and installers but also some
in depth info on the scene and the group itself. I don't have it at hand but if I find it I'll post it ...

I think you mean that interview with Sandor from Radium - it was on some site that had fallen victim to american primitivism. But here it is reborn - https://defacto2.net/f/aa322e

It's sad to think that those guys, from AiR, H2O, R2R and every other team from those last 2 decade, have played a huge role in the music scene and it's development and no one really knows about them.
The way they gave access to awesome products to a lot of artist and future creator that didn't have the money to buy it, or just wanted to try stuff before making a choice, it gave lot of us the possibility to try and build a setup that lead some of us to live with what we love the most now, things that needed a lot of money to start (or some access to expensive stuff) before the computer revolution.
And for some other, they give them the possibility to express their creativity and change the music forever (mostly in the electronic music culture, but not just that).

I don't know if one day their story will be told the same way as documentary about great mixing engineer or artist agent who changed the music world, but even if it's an illegal part of the industrie, it still had (have) a way bigger positive impact on it that the mainstream people can ever imagine...

So big thanks to those guys in the dark that help me (us) start doing what I (we) love more than 20 years ago, it is more than just cracking program security :mates:

Maybe it's best that way? I agree, those guys are actual real heroes. They don't fly or shoot lasers from their eyes but they sure try to make the world a better place, while the supposedly "good side" has always tried to stop them. props & kudos to them
