AUDIOZ. Where you go to try before you buy...the latest gear.
Facebook. Regardless of what some of us think of it, Facebook is a force to be reckon with. It’s the largest social network on the internet.
Sonicbids.Connect with promoters, book more gigs
    Bandcamp. Upload your music
Vampr. An app that helps you discover, connect and collaborate with fellow musicians, the music industry and music lovers alike.
Drooble. A place where you can connect with others to collaborate, exchange ideas and share knowledge.
Rigshare.Where musicians share the gear and stories behind their music.
Google + There is a sizable music community on Google+, since there is a heavy tech focus on this Google-owned social network. Sharing your site’s content or blog posts can also help it get indexed faster. That’s a simple way of saying you could be getting more traffic to your site from Google if you’re sharing your content on Google+

How can you use instagram for the purpose of music? You can't even paste a link.

and I say Reddit for the topic. Some subreddits can be very helpful.

    Flickr
    Pinterest
    Myspace
    Skype
    Audiomack
    Musicxray
    Yourlisten

About Instagram and similar social media, it's also important to connect with your followers and fans besides promoting only your music. Showing pictures and vids from you in the studio, on a party, when doing a gig etc. helps. It's all about seeing the big picture.

True it is limited but with IG you build your online presence. You can cross-post to other media sites. You can build your brand. Besides, if your fans can’t get enough of your music, they surely feel the same about your other pieces of art – like the photos you take or appear in. BTW, Instagram is one of the only social media platforms that stays very active seven days a week, with the highest post activity happening between the hours of 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. on average.
