I found this program called Splice here https://splice.com/

Anyone know if it's okay to use if you use "downloaded" DAW and plugins?

Your link was a direct donwload, so when I clicked a download automatically started. I had to correct it. You should explain better what does this program .

 

Splice provides cloud backup and storage facilities direct to your DAW. They have a variety of other services too, which includes collaborative working with other musicians on the same DAW as you, and a variety of other services.

I couldn't find anywhere on the site a statement of you retaining copyright on projects you've loaded into their storage. I could find terms and conditions which effectvely surrender the entirety of your performance arts rights to the company if you do use their collaborative services.

I ran away screaming. Your mileage may vary.

 

What the?? That's INSANE! How do they get away with this? I guess by putting it in writing...I wonder how many people using it have no clue of this. Note to self: Always read the fine print!

I was able to see that you retain ownership of stuff you create on Splice, where did you see they retain rights on the collaborative thing or where you just making that up?

I mean I first heard of Splice from a YouTube video where Oak Felder (producer for top pop stars) uses it, and I don't think he would let the rights be taken away from him or the artist by a software company, but who knows, he could be a share holder.

It has rave reviews and tons of producers use it, and even call it"The best kept secret" so I would hope they weren't all wrong and unwillingly losing the rights to their music.

Hi everyone, Splice is not a secret weapon, is just a susbcription membership where each month you are alowed to download 100 samples
( called Credits ) for 7.99 US dollars ( basic package ) and if you don't use all the credits it rolls over which is very nice. -

Pretty much every sample label ( or at least the good ones ) have got their samples in Splice.

Also you can share your projects very easily if you decide to collaborate with other people and it also keeps a back up, this service is free btw!

Some people upload their tracks so others can collaborate publicly, this is not my cup of tea but it is pretty cool is you wanna learn how others do their production.

It also offers rent to own plugins, hit download, pay monthly, then own the plugin forever - SERUM, D16, STUDIO ONE etc

Splice bought Sample Magic awhile back so all their Sample Libraries are there too.

I have being using Splice for more than 2 years and it is great for what I do.

Hope this helps to have a clear idea of what Splice does

It's a stupid decision to allow cracked software to access the internet but apart from that there is no no problem whatsoever.
