I was installing Overloud Plugins on a DAW that i did not want to have any internet connection
There is a network present but only for transferring files from a Linux computer connected to the
internet to the DAW without gateway.

So when i registered the plugins (like Overloud or Goodhertz) and i disabled the hardware NIC,
    the plugins where unregistered again.

I found a sollution for this. It's simple and does not need any 3rd party software.

    Windows 10 :

Right Click "This PC" and select "Manage"
In the left panel, select "Device Manager"
Then in the right panel select "DESKTOP" at the top
Select from top menu "Action" and select "Add Legacy Hardware"
Click "Next", then select 2nd option "Install the hardware that i manually select from a list (Advanced)"
Scroll down and select "Network Adapters" and click "Next"
Select "Microsoft" in the left panel
Select "Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter" in the right panel
    Click "Next"

    Done.

Remember to disable your real Hardware Network Adapter, and only let the Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter enabled to register the plugins.

Hope this is usefull for people who have struggled with this like me.

so is not enough or disconect the adapter and turn off the firewall or vice versa?

....or adapter disconnect or adapter connect but unplugg cable....

For Windows 7,8,10 (same results but easier for some users)
    1. Click Start, then type cmd in the search box.
    2. When cmd.exe appears, right-click it and choose Run as administrator.
    3. In the command prompt, type hdwwiz.exe and press Enter.
    4. Click Next.
    5. Select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), then click Next.
    6. Select Network adapters, then click Next.
    7. Select Microsoft as the manufacturer, select Microsoft KM-TEST Loopback Adapter as the adapter for Windows 7,8,10, then click Next.
    8. Select Next to confirm the installation.
    9. Select Finish to complete the installation.
    10. Dont forget about your network adapter, disable it.

Yeah, I was thinking along those lines too, unless I've missed something here, leave everything as it is and just turn off the Modem.

FIrst of all, if your Mac can stay offline all the time the solution is easy: Just give it a static network configuration that can reach your home LAN but has a nonexisting gateway configured.

No need to be jealous on Mac. If anyone wants something like the above on Mac, prepare for some reading and understanding, but here's a good start:
    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/87442/virtual-network-interface-in-mac-os-x

From the suggested actions, I would consider trying this one first: http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net
