I'm bit of newb with the chiptune / Retro gaming scene, plus I'm starting the big switch from Logic Pro to Reaper. I'm posting here, hoping someone can tell me the details about R2R's Reaper Keygen v5.95 /v5.96 music and point me to the MIDI file. I'd love to remix it, and for good measure, remix it in Reaper.

BTW, this is not the first time I have heard something great from R2R, Big Props for taking the time code these in! You guys really Rock!

FYI - I found a YouTube video of the keygen song, it seems others like it too:

nice track! there went a lot of creativity and love into these "soundtracks"
keygenmusic is a site where you may find something, or at least you could contact them, they should be able to guide you right to midifiles etc.

my girlfriends favourite is not R2R but Air and not even instrumental but acapella

Yes, the famous Air song, I remember the first time I heard it, it was a magical experience.
Agree, I'll give the keygenmusic site a try, I did find a couple keygen tracks, but they were from some very old versions of Reaper and not by R2R.

Never heard of a way to convert xm files to MIDI. All those keygen sounds are written in tracker programs like renoise or fasttracker2clone which is especially cool because it has the Nibbles Game integrated so you can play it while listening back to what you programmed.

You can extract the .xm files from keygens with 7zip and play'em back in winamp or load 'em up in a tracker. So converting to wav is easy. There is a lua script called Hackey-Trackey for Reaper. Looks like it can make tracker data out of MIDI so maybe the other way around exists as well.

Dragon Atlas was used in more then one keygen or wasn't it?

"Alone in the Scene" - That's the one!

Dragon Atlas - sounds really great! I have to reamix that one too. :winker:

Great tip on using 7zip to extract the XM and a big thanks for taking the time to point me in the right direction. I was able to download the .XM files from the zippy links and found a really nice tracker program that converts them to MIDI, it's called "OpenMT" link here: http://openmpt.org/download

There are simply so many trackers, cool that you found one that renders to MIDI.
Here's even more keegen-music for reamixing if you like. I just started collecting, so there are not too much songs.

Some are .mod and .s3m files, but looks like openmpt can handle them as well.

Your are Awesome! I have literally done nothing today but listen to Chiptunes! BTW Thanks for the extra collection of keygen music. I have added them to my collection. I found a bonus folder of some really great songs inside the fasttracker2clone with FLAC sound files. Created a Zip-share of everything here:

"Demogroup 2R2". How innocent that sounds.
    Ah, flashbacks.

Wow, great thread. I made my first (and last ATM lol) song with Fastracker II in the Win95/MS-DOS mode times. Fastracker II and Scream Tracker III were the bosses if I recall well. ST was used by the best hands down module music composer
of the PC demo scene (MSDOS era).

The other day I was playing with Reaper and one of the 8bit classics. The Ocean game company loader II for Commodore-64 (cult SID sound chip). Yeah, fellow (and old lol) Commodore 64/Amiga, show 'em our pride! :disco:
BTW, modules were created in the Commodore Amiga (mostly 500 model) platform, which had and amazing sound chip with.. four! voices.

Damn, I feel old... wait, I am old!! :guru:  :suicide:

Great answer. Winner by KO  :goodpost:

This was recently posted in AZ. I haven't tested it yet. I'd go first with OpenMt just in case, it's the best tracker nowadays.
