The song and composition idea sound pretty awesome... Going into floyd territory...

But the production needs a lot of work... None of the elements have clarity... The solo guitar has too much reverb and no presence... Also i think you may have to edit the performance as there seem to be too many off key notes in there...

So basically, edit performance... then separation of mix elements...lots of eq to get different instruments out of each others way... compression to level out and make drums pop... and this will be more enjoyable to listen to...

As a guitarist i know how importend and picky i can be when it comes to guitar sound.. That has learnt me a few things when it comes to my own music, if its guitarbased i need to put alot of work into shaping the sound around my guitars.

Its good song writing with some good ideas and i can clearly hear what you trying to give the listener. Sadly it doesnt come throught that much as it is alot like @Kinghtsurfer writes. A little to much going on and a little unbalanced overall. In the intro when you fade in the guitar on one side it sounds empty on the other and so on. I may recall it wrong but you posted a song a long time ago here that i thought was really good, here the drums sound good by themselfes and would probarly go really good with the guitars if it wasnt that much effekt making the whole mix unclear. Less is more so you can try taking letting the UAD work a little less ;)

Performence qwise i think its rather good just make sure that not to much going on at the same time so tones that may cross each other dont get taken for faulty play etc..

But i like it as i always do when it comes to music that i "played" by hand.. and not just a "beat".. keep it up..

awesome input , thanks guys :
mixing isnt my strong suit , hehe
i will try & sub group more of the diff elements & apply various Eq , comp & try & get more clarity & separation :
I have two choir/strings type tracks , 3-4 piano tracks , l/r rhythm guitar tracks , so ya a bit busy , ha
thanks again - will tweak more
    ;)

    Nice performance, nice playing man!

Have to agree about previous comments, the mix is almost like an outro where everything is soaked in reverb for a big ending.
That run at 2:57 - run should be tearing my face off as it's great!
3:43 those trem flicks also... get those bad boys in the front of the mix.

It's all there, just needs some love. Great tune!

In addition to the other comments, the bass is boomy every now and then, depending on the note. You can tame this easily with a dynamic eq like TDR Nova, which is free.

killer feedback ; much appreciated : i will work on this quite a bit more and try & get it sonically where it deserves to be : !
the dynamic EQ will read along in real time , adjusting - so to speak ?
    thanks --
    rock on

Yep, it's an four band eq with a compressor function per band, similar to a multiband compressor. So, don't use the static eq, just the dynamics section.

    cool , i DL that EQ ; i am using the 4 band dynamic preset : u think that`s a good setting ?
i can see it working , ha -- taming the beast , so to speak !

    thanks much

incidentally , the strings & piano tracks [ 6 in all ] are all stereo : it might help my mix to mono all these out & pan out more eh ?
    i don`t need those in stereo , doh :

Err, Nova has presets?? I wasn't aware of that. [IMG] I do save my own eq settings as presets (in some cases) but I see no sense in using another ones preset. Eqing is too individual for that. But if it helps you to see how it works, it's ok.

Up to now I see/hear no necessity to make them mono. You could try to lower the overlapping freq in stereo mid with an m/s eq or lower the mid level with something like BOZ Panther, but the latter only a bit. Lowering the stereo mid of stereo tracks too much causes severe phase cancellation very quickly. Just try if the song benefits from that.
