So I've been using Cubase elements 9.5 but, I feel like it's a little bit limited, I really like the way how Cubase works since the version 5 so I wanted to ask if there is any good alternative that you guys can recommend me, I use it only for recording, mixing and mastering, for the midi composing I use Ableton live 10, I've already tried reaper but I don't feel comfortable using it.

If you don't use midi in Cubase, then Studio 1 (4) is probably your best bet (with the addition of Celemony Melodyne Studio and Ara as an equivalent to Vari Audio).
Sonar isn't bad, more it's very good, but very different in how it looks and works next to Cubase.
Studio 1 is what comes the closest.
    Cheers.

I get edited the title so it s more precise than "any good alternative" so you will receive more answers.
For audio recording, mixing and mastering Samplitude would worth a try, or at least watch some videos to see how it is.

The Elements series is missing so many great features in my opinion that you should try another daw. Try Cakewalk by Bandlab. It is a professional daw for free. No limitations. Samplitude is worth a try, But i read in Dec, 2018 Samplitude pro x 4 will get released. Not the best time to get SAM. Studio One is allways worth a try.

Cubase pro would be the best answer for you.

TBH I think Samplitude on some aspects is better than Cubase Pro. I'm very big on its object editing.
Still it's very different than cubase. The closest part to Cubase is the one not used by the OP, the midi editing.
I'm happy to learn they're gonna update Sam. Ara2, finally some nice automation lanes ? Any good infos TW ?

Oh and I didn't suggest Cubase Pro (obvious choice if you enjoy Cubase Element but want more)...But well I'm guessing OP knows but can't fork the price so I only focused on...hum...available....Daws.

Sadly no "new" informations. It is only scheduled for Dec. What is announced and will be new in X4 is ...
    Automation Lanes
    New Plug-in Browser
    New Instrumentes
    Better Performance
    Restoration suit
... Not that much new announced.

Nice, thanks. Automation lanes, better performances (it's already really good) and a new plugin browser alone would rejoyce me (well...depends on the upgrade price really).

I'd try using C5, the only thing you'll miss is just 64 bit (VSTi) or superficial (GUI) I expect. Everything else is an improvement, pretty much. Completely different, rly; I'd still use C5 over any version of artist / elements. I guess you'll discover whether (ie) using stuff liek transformer etcs is worth paying for? If not, maybe try Reaper. I couldn't get along w/ it, tbh, but it may be easier starting from scratch / not having too much already invested? I'm still interested in learning it (reascript et al) but tis quite daunting!

Ableton 10 should have more features than Cubase 5, why are you not using it for mixing etc?

Mainly because of the lack of vst3 support, some plugins I use like autotune are vst3 only

Samplitude is great. but the upgrade is a joke. there is a tonne of stuff they still won't address, stuff which would make them notably more successful in the DAW market. i love it, but my patience has worn thin with it ( or Magix in general i should say).
Studio one is closest to Cubase, but it's faster and much less convoluted. it's worth a try.. it's very good and pretty tight.
As far as Sonar (aka Bandlab) goes, it is different in approach adn requires more investment in learning. although, as pointed out previously it also appears to be free which is a no-brainer...

Overrated DAWs like Cubase, ProTools and some others are so heavy for single home uses. My suggestion is trying out some light ones. They will also increase your workflow with less resource allocations.

Heaviness and oldness get in the way of creativeness and imaginativeness.

    Try Studio one version 4
It has some features that Cubase does not have or it is too cumbersome in Cubase. But
which musicstyle are you doing ?, or try bitwig is between Ableton and old logic style.
