Mix: too loud below 40Hz, a bit boomy between 100-200Hz, overall too loud, I'd use a different bd and sn.

    Composition and stuff:

    My monitors? Samson Resolv A8.

To keep an eye on the overall loudness, I use a level meter, in which I calibrated the ballistics so that it still moves for 3dB within a second, even at the loudest parts and a LUFS meter.

I just compared the two versions and I defo prefer the new one, although it's still loud, LUFS ~-11. Means YT would lower it by 3dB, iTunes even by 5dB.

When you introduce new sounds, like at 3:02, you don't need to start so lound, because it catches the ear automatically.

Thanks for taking the time and helping out with the info. The Lufs should read -16, right?.Which level meter are you using?

Hey Mat O...While most here are speaking of your mix which definitely could use some help..before that should even be addressed you need to correct the clashes I hear with your chords, lead lines especially on the Intro. Way too off at times. Also your Sequencing and quantizing
of those lead lines at times are not in time. Perhaps a little better performance. The Organ hit on the intro also kinda clashes or feels weird to me.

Well, that is my take on the track.

Keep pushing to you get it!

Thank u for your valuable input.I will keep working at it.The lead lines were played without taking the harmony in to consideration. The organ hit is slighty out of tune.Thank u:yes:

No song should have a certain LUFS value in general, because LUFS is just a frequency weighted RMS value and there's nothing like a common RMS value for music.
Different platforms adjust the songs to different LUFS values by leveling the songs (iTunes -16, YT -14...).
On principle it's easier for you to adjust your songs with a LUFS of -16 to -12, just by using more compression and limiting, than the other way around.
This is the theoretical part. In praxis classical music is mostly lower, which isn't a problem at all, but all kinds of Rock and EDM are often much louder. I recently had the displeasure to listen to the new record of a Rock band that I like on principle, but the songs had a LUFS of about -8, I guess, and that sounded horrible.

If you want to know/experience how dead your first version was, play the second one, adjust the speaker volume to a nice loud level and then switch to the first version.

I use Roger Nichols Inspector XL level meter in DAWs and the stock level meter in WavLab (which I prefer).
And DMGAudio TrackMeter for LUFS measuring.

In balance, i like the approach that you introduce at 3:25 against the drum pattern..how about dropping the vangelis lead synth at this point and introducing switches ..skipped beats (triplets i think you'd call them) to swagger it?
