Hello there! I'm new to the forum so I hope I've posted in the right area.
Anyhow, I'm looking for some light :invision: to my inquiries... So I use FL Studio for doing my beats since I like the MIDI work flow there(and it's the software I started with lol);but as I was advancing buying my studio equipment I hit the little wall of recording(is a new experience to me)/ I just dont like the way of FL Studio recording workflow(Edison or direct to the playlist)

The things is what software you guys can recommend me using for a better recording workflow, or do you still thing I can make it through with FL?//(Doesnt matter freeware or buyurware(lol))

    Other questions are:
What plugin you recommend me to check out for vocal mixing and mastering?(hip-hop,trap, edm)
And for a final, tutorials! If you guys can give some light for some vocal tutoring I'll much appreciated:beg:
Thank you and sorry if I messed up the english here and there :rofl::thanks:

You could try the usual suspect Studio one. It handles Audio a lot more intuitive than fl. Version 4 of Studio one had a lot of new features for producers. Maybe it fits your workflow better.

In terms of plugins. Stock daw plugins are the best until you get to a point a stock plugin can't deliver what you want and you are not satisfied. See them like cars. One is more comfortable, one looks better the other one is faster, but in the end, every car will drive you to your target if you know how to drive.

    Hi Reiji, welcome to Audiosex.
It's hard to answer your question, as I'm not in the genres you are producing. But to record vocal, I believe that there are better options than FL Studio, not that it cant do it, but there are more practical DAWs for that. Also it would be good to mention your system (Mac or Win) as some options are specific to one system.
Personally I use Reaper and find it very practical, but obviously I add third party plugins.

About tutorials, there are a lot at our sister site. :winker:

    Welcome in Reiji,

It's true true that FL Studio is not best-featured for recording, but I guess you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. Mostly all DAWs will get you there:

    • Price: Nada
Audacity, Pro Tools First, or Bandlab Cakewalk
    • Price: A laughable $60 bucks (best buy)
    Reaper
    • Price: One of your kidneys
    Pro Tools 2018, Cubase 9.5

All you need is to learn the principles of home studio recording. Check youtube tutorials and see what they are using. If you like how they work, get the DAW they use and stick to it. It won't make a difference. Even better, follow the white rabbit on what Olymoon has said. As you've already concluded, it's a matter of workflow.

As for plugins, unless you expect some return, don't spend your money. TW is spot on with the comparison to a car.

  6. In FL Studio I do it a couple of ways. I record only into the the playlist if I am recording two or more tracks at a time, as to use Edison like that is cumbersome and makes no sense, needing afterwards to deal with all the open instances which is a pain. If I am recording a single track for say guitar, a keyboard or a vocal part and using a short drum loop to just keep time and/or to give me a sense of feel for the song, I will use Edison to record multiple takes or parts without needing to stop, cutting out what I wish to keep and lose the rest.

Reaper has the advantage that it can be legally tried for a very long time. You only have a nag screen when opening it after 30 days, but it is still fully functional. If you decide to try it, I encourage to try it with several skins, as it can be very different.

Reaper is more than a DAW, not suitable for everybody and geeky. But the upside is so many options are provided, it's likely you'll end up with the 'perfect' DAW.

If I were to start again, I'd go with Reaper. BTW, if you are familiar with the Adobe suite (Photoshop and related), you might want to try Adobe Audition because it's workflow might feel familiar to you.
