Can anyone point me in the right direction for a decent DVD\CD burning windows 10 64 bit programme, that uses Multi-session writing tools, I've been using Nero 12 but it seems to be screwing up a lot of late.

ashampoo burning studio nice suite used many times.. easy interface.. lots of options

+1 for imgburn also... great little app for free

you mainly concerned about using open session data disks? Roxio still has a product
out there.. they used to be pretty robust in features.. not free.. but well
you probably know someplace to find a copy... :winker:

would like to give a shout out for handbrake as well. .. not exactly what you are asking for
but a good companion app for working with DVD/video

Hi guys, thanks for your response, yesterday I tried some of your suggestions, but I still have the same problems with the newer software. So I'm assuming that my problem is in another area. What happens is I write a DVD in multi session mode, but when I come to add another session , the software rejects the disk telling me that its finalised and no more sessions can be added, so its down to either a new writer, or a possibility that I just bought a bad batch of DVD-R... any ideas?

Never had such issue with good ol' Nero 6 and Nero 7.
Nero 7 still might work in W8.1+

Still not sure what exactly you are working with. If it's strictly data, I never had a problem with the old EZ CD creator..
(Roxio, which is updated to some new edition Corel Roxio Creator ). I haven't done a multi session data disk in forever
(externals, thumb drives etc. ). And you don't identify the software you are using so no one could try to duplicate it
or comment. You mean any software you tried or still the Nero ?

MagicISO is another option and has a tutorial right up your alley...

Herr Durr, I have two computers the one in question is my home computer, which is the faulty machine, the other computer is in my studio and has a DVD burner but I don't use as a burner.
On my home computer I un-installed Nero and installed Imageburn, then I uninstalled Imageburn and installed Ashampoo, I tested each installation separately and got similar results.
The results were that it burns once and then automatically finalizes the disk when I'm creating a Multi session disk. I don't want it to finalize the disk, I want to be able to add files in the future.
I think that I have proved that its not software related, unless its Win 10. I tried a couple of suspect disks on my studio PC (Win 7) after installing a writing program ( Ashampoo) and this works flawlessly, so I only assume its the DVD writer at fault, unless anyone can advise me otherwise.

When the same issue happens using different softwares linked to hardware, the hardware is the one which probably have to be fixed.

Thanks for your replies, it appears that my problem was the DVD writer, after installing a new one, everything now seems fine, thanks once again.
