    Hi guys.
I've been a member here for a few years now and haven't shared any of my music so I thought I'd drop a demo. My vocals are limited but I try to do the best I can with what I have. Critisism is welcome.

if you redo the song try to experiment a bit/more with de-essing the vocals, that's it.

I liked it, the vocals remind me of dave gahan( violator and enjoy the silence) and johnny cash. I like the organ(?) in the background supporting the vocals. maybe the background volume could have been closer to the volume of your vocals. Nice touch to bring the vocals right up front. not sure about the end when you raise the pitch of your voice , sounds a little incomplete like you need to hold it at that pitch briefly before dropping( but I'm aware of the vocal limitations.. you're only human ) Overall sonically it sounds good. I've linked to your soundcloud account so I can listen out for any new stuff you put up there.

Luv the sentiment of the lyrics and the mix is well good moosh, vocal is probs better than ya think, plenty character, broken almost and that suits the song innit.

    Nice bud

I like the clear production too and it is a work in progress so I will apply a de-esser along with a few other ideas I have as. :)

Hey thanks Rah for your comments. I hear what you say about the Dave Gahan comparison. There is a similar tone. Yeah the last part with the raised vocals were a bit of a strain and I'm still working on the song so I will be changing that as well as adding a decent ending instead of the boring fade out. I will also be adding a guitar or maybe a piano solo before the last verse and working on the overall production.
Anyway thanks for your input. Much appreciated.:like:
Just to let you know I've just joined Soundcloud and will be putting up a couple of covers of John Lennon and Odea Mathews very shortly.

love this vibe! fantastic job! :like:

i'm one of those listeners that doesn't really care about how good a mix is; i can & will enjoy it if the song is great & has a soul.

this definitely qualifies...AND the mix is perfectly fine. thanks for sharing this. keep creating! :mates:

Very kind of you Sir thank you for your nice comment.
I know what you mean about liking a song that might not be sonic-ally good.
I love harmony and melody mixed with great instrumentation if I am honest but I love some old blues tracks (Among other old stuff) that were recorded in the early 1900's despite their scratchy old sound. What speaks to me with these songs are the soul and emotions of the singer. This is a good example
There's no pretty music to back this lady up and she is singing from a prison ground whilst pneumatic drills are going off in the background but she sings with such conviction that I can't help but love the song. Anyways Cheers.

fine little production..and I agree about the clarity, and has a nice warm sound as well to me.. is it all ITB
or any gear you use to "sweeten" things up? Really didn't hear anything harsh to my ears..and didn't think
the sibilants were much of an issue at all...and your pitch change seemed to work just fine on first listen
Maybe I'm just not that critical on the "mix side" , and very much in agreement with @coolbeanz on that score..
when the harmonies kicked in later I was thinking "Beatles" for some reason..just a sweet pop gem with a serious
    theme.. why not ?

The only thing I'd suggest to think better of is this..

I was really feeling you should've just gone for "fookin'" on the F word, and other words with the lilt of the kilt ya ken ?

what the hell, if the Proclaimers can get away with it why not ye !

Yeah, (on topic)= it would be churlish to be even slightly critical of a lovely song that made me grin broadly. But I'll try =) ! I don't like the bass and what it's doing, 'bout the only real downer in the song. Snare sound is a bit flat / samey, but that's mostly just subjective rly. I prolly just want all my snare sound tight af despite :D song. De-ess? Yes, lil bit on couple occasions. Also the lyrics went a bit weird/tautologous: "propaganda.. sprinkled w/ lies" (?) and the first "tryn to find the words" kinda doesn't fit w/ the whole laid-back, eyebrow-raised performance; I think you said as much.

Anyway, love the voice and sentiments and lyrics! Aka the difficult bits to get right. Bravo! Kinda meaningless to crit anything rly, it all serves the song well enough as is. (I secretly yearn for a reggae remix =)
