    Hi,
My Windows 10 (Build 10240) started to Update Windows (without asking me)!
I seems the update stopped some days ago and now I can't open Windows Defender.
Error message: An error occurred...Error code 0x800b0100.
But Windows Defender is still active, because after reading some folder, a small window appeared
and told me some malicious files are now deleted.
    I didn't installed any other AntiVirus/Malware programs!
The only thing what was suddenly installed 2 weeks ago: "Windows10-Update-Assistent".
I tried "sfc /scannow" in Dosbox without success.

Q1: How can I repair Windows Defender without reinstalling Win10 or Updating whole Windows to 1803 ?

Q2: What is the best method to stop all updates for Windows 10 ?
I tried to stop the "Windows Update" service, but after some weeks he started the updates anyway.

I use this (..see link below) to disable automatic updates. I also use it to completely disable DEFENDER. As a matter of fact, I disable EVERYTHING that this program has an option for - like 50+ (...or so) options to disable certain services and functions. Just "select all" and disable if you want to.

Anyway, if you just want to disable auto-updates, then just check that particular box and apply.

As far as repairing your DEFENDER, I have no idea. I hate DEFENDER.

    Hi bluerover,
    thanks for your response.
I used Windows Defender (essentials) still under Win7 and it worked perfect. Windows is fast and no Malware/Virus since on my systems.
If you don't use Defender, which other Antimalware/Antivirus prog are you using?
"Do not Spy" sounds nice. Never heard of it. Is it recommended?

And the bad news: Windows Defender deleted some files (maybe keygens) but I don't know which keygens and where did he put them?

I already done this. "Windows Defender Antivirus service" is automatic and running.
