Just put a small or large diaphragm condenser mic a bit above and in front of the violinist in a dampened room (your example is quite dry).
Mixing comes later, when you have captured the good sound source. Then you can tweak, tune, process and mangle any way you like to fit the song.

I have a feeling it's a phrase taken from some ethno sample library. Mixing depends on the context.

Like Kundalini already said, this depends completely on the context and on personal taste. To smooth it out you can use a high shelf eq, a dynamic eq to tame the formants, a subdued chorus fx, ambience or cathedral reverb, a compressor.

If you like this a bit, I can tell you basically how to achieve it, but with different plugins it will sound a bit different and you have to adjust the parameters differently, so you can't use mine exactly. And of course you should adjust it to your preferences.

AgA, I'm sorry but for me this request have no sense and answer will be only general. It's like a: i'm buying a sofa to my apartment. Tell me where to put it. Should it be white or yellow or green? maybe red? Tell me exact number of cushions i should put on it and colour. Pictures, description appreciated". We know nothing of your apartment and we know nothing of the music you would like to mix this violin with. Any help is like a shot in the dark, just a guess. It's your music, just sit and try to adjust levels maybe add some reverb or delay. Listen to the result. Judge it. It's your job and your lesson. You can share with us a result and then some help could be more precise but the begining is only yours. Good luck.

Answer will be general. We need to hear the recording and, to check waveform also.

We can't understand that we need to use compressor or not .

    Some general EQ tips:

Low Cut 100 hz generally you dont need
    Muddy area around 5000 hz
Attack area around 7000- 1000 hz
    Air area around 12000 hz

but as i said it depends on record.

BUT BUT Recording is more important than mixing . If recording is good , mixing will be good

  14. I know using words to describe sound is not very accurate and usage may vary from individual but are generally agreed upon. Saying that, some of the frequencies and the terms used are still a bit off, such as "mud" is generally referred to as being in the 200-300hz region, not 500 which is more the "boxy" region if we are talking kick drums or other instruments.

    For violins ~200Hz (lowest note).

    Can be good. :winker:

  16. If recording is good...mixing will be easier and can take less time so not as to have to fix a less than stellar vocal track, try to lessen endless phase and frequency issues as well as timing errors.

you dont mix a soloed violin, you mix it into the context of the piece.

Starting with adjusting levels, adding effects like reverb or delay, and carefully listening to the result is a great approach. Don't hesitate to try different things and see how they affect the overall sound. And if you ever feel stuck or want some feedback, don't hesitate to share your work with others for fresh perspectives.
