I am looking for a matched pair of small dia. condenser mics. Anybody have any experience with SE mics? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/590138-REG/sE_Electronics_SE4_SP_SE4_Small_Diaphragm_Microphone_with.html A friend loaned a pair of AKG451s, spoiled me, and then had the nerve to ask for them back. I can't quite get to those in my budget, but close. http://www.zzounds.com/item--SHUKSM137SL

Oktava are nice but when the room temp rises they start to spit, once you hear it you tend to focus on that annoying sound, and then you quickly let them cool down, it's a common trace with them the manufacture admits it.

SE make good products but again not 1 mic is an all rounder, some info to what you will be using them for would help, both those pencil mic's you speak of are used commonly on Piano and some Acoustic Guitar work.

    Cheers

Thanks. Drum overheads mostly, but I tend to buy mics that are multi-functional. Pads and roll offs for overheads, but it's nice to have sensitivity and low end if I want to use them for something else. I think for money the Sures may be the way to go. Sure is notoriously road-worthy if you need to actually use them out on a live gig. Getting a Sennheiser E902 for my bass drum.

The going price on those gets me back into AKG 451 range, which are just damn sweet.
