There are two things worth mentioning.

Since H20 other than Cubase 5.1 there has not been a stable cracked version. The elicenser Anti-trial is a softsel and not an eprom crack like H20's and there is no known stable version since they updated the elicenser software other than software cracks which will not be stable.

The only way to crack 7,8,9 etc is to get an eprom burner, read the code and dump it into a single file, then telling cubase that the file is the dongle when it starts - This is how H20 did it. They gave it away.
Otherwise...

if you manage to untie cubase from elicenser completley you don´t need to emulate the dongle.
That´s what AudioUtopia did with ILok, also.
ILok is still uncracked actually.

anybody knows if you have the cracked version of Cubase 5 you can get reduced price for 9.5?

 

I am not killing any golden egg.
I am happy to apologise to anyone that puts up a videoed on screen, unedited video of Cubase 7,8 or 9 opening without a dongle and still operating after six months.

iLok may have a software crack and v12 of ProTools works ok, but not without issues that the uncracked does not have.
As for untieing the dongle, it's done at assembly level not C or any other language. It needs a file that tells it that it exists. Untieing is different to iLok. The H20 guys explained it to me a long time ago with Cubase 2 and 3. The eprom was used to copy the batches of zeroes into a single file so it was untied.

Reality - if you take your music into a studio and record it for over 5 hours, you may as well have bought the program. H20 were the only group to successfully crack the elicenser properly. In fact, Cubase 3 cracked version was more stable than the released version.

With UAD, their hardware is the best reason to buy it - the software while certainly working by itself, really only accesses the power of the hardware. I suppose if that has changed then yes, it might be a reason to try a cracked version. I figure if I use it all of the time, I'll buy it.

 

Do you work at Steinberg for some reason ?
