Pitch bend & Modwheel not being passed to plugins. Fl is receiving the midi info according to debug. Anyone else experiencing this?

Well it sounds like the normal thing for FL.
There may be more recent info, but I struggled with it for a while before finding this thread (or another like it...there are so many!)

I'd like to see one day R2R release with that fixed, and a big middle finger to Gol.
I'd bought the basic prog long ago, but dumped it after fiddling with stuff like that and went back to Sonar.
Only in the past couple of years I have started getting back into it and decided i was worth the annoyances considering the R2R price :P
But it is not difficult to assign them, and I did have a template set with those two mapped fine, but I never could get it to stick on a clean blank project.

 

My struggle with aftertouch has never been addressed either...an irritating pia.

I had this issue, but since I mapped it on a blank project and use it as a template, it still working for me.

So maybe try doing the same operation, start a new project, go in the browser, "current project" => "remote control" => right clic on "omni - mod wheel (wrapper)" and move your modwheel, and same with the "channel pitch". Save as a template, close FL, open again, open your template, close FL again, and then it should be ok the next time you open it (not sure if you have to close it 2 time, but that's how I did it, just in case)

 

instead of close and open twice, save the fl project as a template, then go to open> whatever your template is called, then when you open FL next it will load that template.
this is one of those things that never gets dealt with, the midi in fl leaves some thing to be desired, but maybe will be addressed in future...

 

Crazy that a mature DAW like FL can't get the pitch bend correct.
I don't recall having this issue with earlier versions. But then again I don't use the pitch wheel that much anyway.
Another thing I noticed is when I set an audio input for a mixer channel the channel looses its color and goes gray and can't be changed. Is that normal? Don't recall that happening before either.

 

the 'loose color' issue was exclusively developed for fl 20. the pattern color in playlist has this error too.

 

I don't know about programming so i cannot criticize image-line in an educated stylee.
all i know is that the midi implimentation is wierd and unintuitive compared to other contemporary DAWs.
for me the most irritating thing is that there is no way to just hit MIDI Learn in third-party synths. it only works in its bespoke plugins. so, if someone can explain that i would be interested to hear it..
i've asked about such things on the image-line forums and all i ever get is slightly tetchy response from 'Scott' or some bot basically refusing to 'justify' the way the midi is implimented and i wouldn't understand it anyway, end of thread : )
i still love it though....
there are a few things that FL could do to be truly great: Overhaul of the MIDI and the ability to create custom shortcuts and interface.. that would be very cool...

 

pitch and mod wheel working fine on FL Studio 20 for me. did you remap the pitch n mod wheel again and save/ replace the "default" template . so when you open FL it opens the default template along with the programmed mapping.

 

it has always worked for me on FL (native plugins, VST, kontakt .... it's even easier and accessible on FL than on other DAW since it is implanted everywhere: in the wrapper, in the piano roll, in CC control, link to controller ........

 

The answer is basically, Gol felt that MIDI was outdated and OSC was the future, so MIDI has always been denied any tight integration into the FL internals.

It's now 20 years later and OSC is nowhere near taking over, and thanks to Roli & Sony MIDI is going to be here to stay for another 40 years. So FL suffers a lack of ease of use of MIDI features.

I told those fuckers this PLENTY of times. Scott and those other weirdos brushed me off. Said it'd be addressed in the next release... that was about 8 releases ago. I know this is not helping you or the place to rant, but I had to get that off my chest. My apologies.

Yet those two things may have been essential for the creation of FL Studio to begin with, so what more can I say!

...EXCEPT that those two controllers WERE mapped generically by default in my FL 20 install, so I am a happy camper.
I THINK this is the first install of FL I did that the mod wheel was generically mapped by default.
