These guys have some cool stuff, but some are quite expensive. Check out their $220 'Drum Premier TAPE'
Do you think their products are worth the money? Never heard of these guys by the way...

Main question is do you think they worth the money for your production and needs

Personally all this stuff is not needed, so guess my answer on that question is not important, but it's quality stuff for someone who find them useful, that's for sure

They could be killer, if they'd excercise bit more restraint. They've got that slightly distant and spacious
quality of high-end nailed pretty well. Not sure how they'd fare in a mix, could turn into a real headache.

    @ Amsterdam Pirate,

The best way to answer to your question is to... listen to their products by yourself, and be your own judge. *yes*

For the desired 'DRUM Premier TAPE', here you can listen to 4 Audio Demos :

'DRUM Premier TAPE' Details & Demos

Various FREE Sample Packs (DEMOS) of their products can also be found and downloaded... but after registration ! *yes* and as follows :

The site seems shady all around to me. Just everything on the site seems to scream sampler cd scam.

Eitherway, if your looking for drums Sampler cd's are the WORST way to go. And if your thinking about spending $220 why not go with a good drum program. For that $220 you could get EZDrummer and and almost 2 kits or Addictive drums or Superior Drummer etc. Basically your getting 1 shots and unless your doing techno/hiphop drums should not be 1 shots, you have no control over the velocity of the hits either. Not to mention these are already mixed/mastered which means altering them further just degrades the audio.

I'm not a fan of samplers in the first place especially since they all seem to be ripped off low quality scams anymore.

Also remember those demo's may not be of their actual product. For all anyone knows they are what they sampled the sounds from

I just can't imagine paying $200+ for single shot audio files with no interface or alt/round robin playing system. Many other better solutions especially for that money.

Also as just a general rule of life. Never trust any company that has the words "Premier" or "Premium" or any variant. It is literally the FIRST word a crap company will put in their name to fool people. Seriously something everyone should know.

i know i have to judge for myself, and i already made my mind up.. still i wanted to ask your opinions, so thanks for your comments.

i think the demo's sound nice. this stuff sounds like it'll be (very) well suited for the loungy, live kinda hip-hop/neo-soul/rnb, just like in their demo songs. still they're a bit too highly priced, and i thought, well.. let's just wait for a sale, but they ARE in sale haha LOL. by the way, talking about round robin, these come with multiple velocity drum samples, so... that's pretty much the same right? anyway i just wanted to bring these under your attention, i like it except the price, so i'll just stick with the sonic specialists urban fire vol.6 that i just bought to extend my drum collection. thats also very well worth looking at. imo.

    @Studio 555:

i will check it out, thanks for pointing that out!
how do you like it, i assume you downloaded at least a couple,,,?

    @Feridan:

what do you mean? do you mean i need high end equipment to be on the same level as these drum samples?

    @xoso:

do you think this site is a scam? maybe other sites stating they are premium, but this site seems okay i think.

    well... see you later!

    ciao!

so are there many people into hip hop in here? do you guys like using one shots from a drum library or do you 'make' your own samples? also if you're into drum library's, what kind of library do you like, ones with enough room to tweak them some more yourself or ones that are pretty much 'plug-n-play'? tell me... *yes*

    @ Xoso,

Some synonyms of 'Premier' are :

    - first
    - initial
    - former
    - prime
    ...

and in this case, it doesn't necessarily means that the term 'Premier' relates to the BEST items available on the market ! *no*

Personally, I'm not a drummer, but it seems to me that some Great drummers worldwide use 'Premier' Drums & Percussion for their good qualities... *yes*

    'Premier Music International Limited'

...and if you absolutely want the BEST, you must to listen to one of the 'PREMIUM' Rock Bands in the World : ' KISS '

As rightly said by one of its founder member : the Legendary 'Gene Simmons' ! :headbang: :guitarhero: :bleh: <-- his tongue !
"You want the Best, you get the Best... The hottest Band in the World : KIIIIIISSSS !!!"
(The intro speech of their mythical 'KISS Alive II' [1977])

This was for the joke !

Yes and No. I was just referring to the sound quality of the samples on the site. They sound as though they were
mastered with high-end equipment, but they're mastered in a way that I think is a bit tasteless. Too brash, too much
    sauce.

Do you need high-end equipment to be on the same level? Not necessarily, the ITB
stuff will get you there 80%. It depends on the type of drums you want, if you want to mike
and record real acoustic drums then yes there are pretty distinct levels of quality between
low and high end. You won't be able to compete with a big studio unless you invest the time and money.

But originality and imagination goes a long way. Very few of your listener will care whether your
drums were miked with Neumann, run through an SSL or Neve, and recorded on a Studer. All they
want is that sh*t rocks. :grooves:

BTW, if you want to compare high end:

Listen to the examples. Welcome to the ballpark. Not saying the Premier are bad, but well listen for yourself.

Here's a making-of video for the Chris Lord Alge add-on (interesting details of recording at Oceanway start
    half way into the video):

do you think ssd is the creme de la creme of the acoustic drum samples? i always thought these were more geared towards rocky kinda music, but i guess i'll have to take a listen again and read what it's all about. if i was into rock, there would be no discussion possible.. very good samples for that, plus tweakable mic position and all the circus shit *yes*

Yes it's the creme, but ultimately probably not very useful. I think you can save your money.

I'm suspicious of highly processed sample libs. They sound good, their makers have invested
a lot of time and money in making them, but they're often really annoying to work
with. They're simply too finished and static. Point and click high end, that sticks out like
a gilded sore thumb. Not very satisfying.

It's better to start with largely unfinished, gritty, or even boring material. Like old SP1200 and
AKAI stuff. Particularly if you want to rough things up.

If you really must have a modern library take a look at the Analogue Drums stuff. You
can get several of their libs as a bundle called Tape Series One:
    Code:
    http://www.analoguedrums.com/details-sb.php
That one includes the Snare City add-on. They're quality samples, original choices of
instruments, but they go easy on the old circus shit.

I agree. When Im not doin my typical EDM tracks I MUCH prefer a grittier, cheap, noisy selection of sounds to use for percussion and drums. They give my "trippy" or "hip-hop" style tracks a much better character than pristine sounds.
