Any modern VST synths with similar topology & sound to Yamaha CS80?

Yes, there is the Arturia & ME80 emulations, but they are both pain in the ass to work with due to their insane GUI design. This is why I'm asking.

I'm not looking for an exact emulation. (At least) two full synth lines per voice. Something that doesn't sound stable or stale. Or a Moog. Maybe an actual slider to detune individual oscillators and introduce drift. Something that is more mellow than in your face. Something that is fun and quick to program and experiment with.

I checked out Diva some time ago and it really isn't what I'm looking for. I liked the ability to individually tune and modulate the oscillators on a per voice basis but unless I somehow missed some major options there is no way to make it work anything like a CS80.

Have you already tried the free Arminator 2 from Krakli? It"s awesome! (32 bit only, and small gui, but sounds great!).

Gonna check it out later today. It took me a while to find a download link since I don't use Facebook. At least it seems this guy put readable labels on the GUI but it is still just basically a copy of the CS80 layout. And that's not what I'm looking for.

  10. In my thoughts it doesn't seem as if Op-x pro II can do justice to the CS80, but Baxter has been a go to since I met him, check it out and see.

    This is a 32bit emulation called 80 Vox: http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=2626

    K. Brown has a zillion emulations of synths at this page, but you might have to download the lot to get his CS-80 emulation

    https://kbrownsynthplugins.weebly.com

    And here is the Arminator

  11. I found the newest version of Arminator, Arminator 2. It is in a Dropbox file... https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2lfjc5rc2h02nuv/AAA5Yesf-ieHBE9LmW9_mAkba?dl=0

I hope that this works for you. I have not myself checked either out yet.

I don't want to sound like I don't appreciate the suggestions so far but I would like to repeat I am looking for something with similar architecture as the CS80. Mainly something that has at least two full synth lines per voice. And something that has a sensibly designed modern interface while having a CS80 type sound.

The Poly Ana looks kinda interesting (judging from a screenshot) because of the two apparently independent filters, but it has just 3 envelope generators. And the interface is a complete mess. I mean maybe some people like that but to me it looks like a nightmare to use.

I've been eyeing Zebra by U-He but it lacks some of the features I would like (like the ability to detune individual oscillators) while simultaneously offering perhaps too many options and features in other areas.

I would honestly go with the Arturia emulation.
you can record your automation in your daw, if you don't have a controller.

or omnisphere, it can be minimalist but with still a lot of controls

u-he diva is good, but depending on the presets, CPU killer

I would say that Poly-Ana is worth checking out (anyway! =) also believe memorymoon did an emu (very old), and It's worth checking out XILS' PolyKB 2/3. It's a sort of "knock off of a Russian knock off" ish. But it's freaking awesome, think it has the specs you wanted.

Judging from a screenshot it does not have the basic features of a CS80.

To be clear, CS80 is basically two full 8 voice polysynths in one giant package. You have two independent oscillator sections with their own amp envelope generator and independent filter sections with an envelope generator for each osc section. And it has a quite unique sound.

It's actually pretty close to something like U-He Hive.

And while Hive has a quite nice GUI, it's not at all the sound I'm looking for.

And yes, the Arturia emulation sounds phenomenal. However IMO the GUI is almost unusable. Maybe it is just me, but I find myself just not using it simply because it is such a fucking chore to work with. It's not fun. This is why I am trying to find a similar sounding alternative with a modern sensibly designed GUI.

    Arturias emulation
    Hexeract
    Synthmaster

And of course, you could also build it in Reaktor..and Massive now that I think about it.

you could also use 2 instances of many plugins.

the simple answer is no. there is nothing like that. not really. there are only a couple synths that sound remotely analog. Diva, Monark, U-he Retro is good, another one i can't think of. And people are generally so impressed that they sound even kind of close to analog that noones asking for 16 voices that all drift and are tuneable. nothing even close that i can think of. either use an emulator that has the features and get used to the interface, or try plugins that sound more analog. you are asking for something very specific. noone makes it

Synapse Dune has not only 2, but 8 voices which you can treat each indivually with osc, amp & filter envelope.
