I´ve had two NT2-A´s that I liked a lot and somehow it looks like this NT2000 microphone is pretty much simular besides the stepless knobs for diffent figures, pad and lowcut.
It this a real consideration and what do you think of the NT2000 in general?

    Cheers

You really have to try the Rodes before you buy to find the right one. I'd actually go for the K2 as opposed to the NT2000 myself. Do you still have an NT2-A? If so I would think that could suffice, then K2 for tube warming awesomeness.

For me it is an "Ok" allround mic. Never felt much love for my rodes (except my K2 one of my go to vocal mics). The Nt2000 is way to bright and harsh for a lot of stuff in my opinion. My Nt 2000 dosent leave the locker often anymore, since i got into lewitt mics.

    Thanks for your reply KungPaoFist:
I just sold my Rode K2 two days ago - found out tube mics wasn´t my cup of tea and I was missing a lowcut feature as well on the K2. Both my NT2-A´s are sold as well because I needed the money for a quality shotgun mic.

    Thanks for your reply TW:
I don´t really do that much vocal stuff but Im doing a lot of field recordings and like and the K2 isn´t really an option for that kind of work. Reason Im thinking of buying a NT2000 is the fact it has the figure8, lowcut and padcut so/and I can record room reflections and stuff like that.

In general I think Rode makes nice mics especially if you consider what they charge for their mics. My "collection" atm is two paired NT5´s, a NT4 and hopefully a NT2000 soon. You are saying that the NT2000 " is way to bright and harsh for a lot of stuff in my opinion" and I´ve heard that said about Rode mics before. I don´t find them especially either bright or harsh but very transparent, with very low level of noise and easy to work with. I´ve got my NT4 a few months ago and it´s a killer for what Im doing regarding field recordings and it´s my no. one mic atm - even above my AKGs ;-).....!

It´s a challenge to do expensive stuff like this on a budget and I consider Rode mics being a good choice in that regard.

    So guys:
Do you think the Rode NT2000 could be a good choice for me now that you know what I´m after?

    Cheers

It is definitely a good multi purpose utility mic. I have 2 and use(d) them mainly as room mics for everything, like drums, guitars, piano etc ... everytime i want(ed) a room mic. I allways got a good, useable result from them. They got replaced by 2x akg 414 and i replaced theese two with 2 lewitts LCT 640. So AKGs are gone Rodes still in the locker as backup.

Ah ok, you're right, the K2 wouldn't be a great option for field recordings. The N4 and N5's would be prefect for sure. I haven't tried the lewitts yet but I like the C414 idea from TW. If you can't find a C414 in your price range then I guess on paper the NT2k would do the trick going for the lighter transparent feel you mentioned. I would try buying it from a store with good return policy so you can try it out first.

he could get a used NT2000 , or $300 new... and decide whether he likes it.. they are cheaper than the other options he has owned.
the NT55 also has some cut options on the mic... HPF, PAD, Omni or Cardiod.. it's less than $400

@phloopy might have me on ignore.. so this will just bounce off him... :bleh:

Great idea, I got the feeling phloopy was going for a large diaphragm but this is totally great as well.

Thanks for your reply TW.... you even gave the NT2000 a very good review over AKG 414 and kept them.... so you must have some affections for the NT2000 then.

Lewitt mics: I´ve never heard of them untill now - and far from my budget! Thanks for letting me know :like:

Thanks for your reply KungPaoFist...... I already have two AKG C214. They´re indeed great mics but not really what I need - actually thinking of selling them soon.... A AKG C414 will then not be an option after my experience with the C214.

"I would try buying it from a store with good return policy so you can try it out first":
That´s not exactly an option for me because I´ll have heavy expenses sending back the stuff ..... I don´t live in a metropolis!

    Cheers

Got my NT2000 today and have tested it about an hour now!

    Im more than satisfied:
Low noise as I expected, easy and fast to work with, extremely transparent and a great design.
Perhaps a little heavy but what do you expect when we´re talking about a 1" condenser mic with so many features?!?

I think I´ve made a good choice buying the NT2000 - time will tell!

Thanks for the few but good feedbacks here - appriciated :like::like:

    Cheers
