That´s not what I call cheap!

  6. The word Neve as part of a marketing strategy adds significantly to the price as well as the physical transformers per channel.

These days the quality of interfaces is quite high compared to only 12 or so years ago across the board, so one of the most important factors is going to be the stability of the driver. If that is on par with RME they will do really well, these little interfaces.

Couple o' thoughts about this Steinberg idea -

Why would someone want a cheap-o consumer NEVE-ish inspired preamp? If I had to use the cheap-o-type interface pre, I think I might want it to be crystal clean and add the mojo later on with a plugin. Second, I would hope that they have improved their drivers for this new model from the old UR line, or are they the same?

Now, if these 'Xformers" are worth any weight at all, then maybe they would 'iron' out some low-end a bit, but are the xformers actually iron, steel, nickel? Even one channel of an affordable neve-ish Golden Age pre is around 300+ bucks.

  9. Because it says Neve, the magic fairy dust that will transform your signal to sound like you recorded in Electric Lady Studios on their Neve Board.
