Dunno if these count, but they are improvised but also have a clear identity and planning and structure. One more than the other or vice versa or whatever:

There are so many styles of jazz. Just Like Rock has Soft-rock, Hard-Rock, Country-Rock so on and so forth, jazz has the same amount:
    - Acid-jazz, Jazz-rock, smooth-jazz, free-jazz, mainstream jazz, dixieland jazz, jazz-blues, jazz-funk, fusion, ethnic-jazz, hard bop, bebop, so on and so forth.
An no, Kenny G is not jazz, he is "instrumental pop music". Circular breathing on a major scale is not jazz. Richard Clayderman does the same thing on a piano.

Miles Davis changed the whole way people looked at jazz and incorporated any style he wanted into it until he died. So the boundaries in theory, no longer exist.

Here is a pop song Miles turned into "jazz". It's almost instrumental pop music - almost, but not quite - with Jon Scofield and Daryll Jones..
    :)

Any sample libraries in this track or did you use "real" instruments?
    Anyway, I like it.

Why would you record part of a song already made available on youtube by one of its owners and post it to another content service provider and in doing so making the impression you made it yourself?

I have to admit that it's exactly what I thought, meaning that the song was from foster911.

So who wrote this nice song?

"Coherent and well-thought-out jazz" is a strange description. As you may or may not know, the chord structure of a jazz piece can be incredibly complex, such as Coltrane's "Giant Steps" (Coltrane absolutely flies, as he knew the ins and outs of the song, but then comes Cedar Walton on piano and he gets chewed up and spit out), or incredibly simply, such as Coltrane's "A Love Supreme", but both are coherent. The only incoherent jazz would be truly avante garde, such as "Out to Lunch!" by Eric Dolphy.

But the part I take issue with is that jazz at it's best is coherent and NOT thought out. That is the nature of jazz improvisation—ideally you have internalized the chord changes, the scales, the instrument, and what is left is pure, creative energy pouring from you without a thought at all. The next level is when the other players (usually the rhythm section—bass, piano, and drums) in the combo (group) feed off that energy with their own, and the soloist feeds off their energy, and what was at one point four separate musicians playing a song together is now four musicians playing as one and transcending the song,. I've been fortunate enough to play with some truly talented musicians (I myself was at one point a IAJE California All-State All-Star Jazz band featured soloist on the vibraphone years ago) and when you touch on those moments it is nothing short of exhilarating.

I fully endorse anything by Branford Marsalis, Kenny Garrett, or the late, great Kenny Kirkland, a true virtuoso on piano. Fuck was he amazing.

Edit: It occurs to me that, as Kenny and Branford go "outside" the chord changes frequently (you can hear Kirkland modulating all over the place), some may believe that to be incoherent. It's not. Stop listening to Benny Goodman.

the limitations of a individual's ability to understand jazz or hear what is happening, has nothing to do with how well "thought out" or "coherent" the jazz is.
jazz is always coherent and well thought out ( in most cases)
But the listeners limitations colors what they hear.
if your ear cannot differentiate what is happening it does not mean there is a problem with the jazz.
it means that if you spend time developing your ears over time, the same piece of music will sound more clear over time.
understanding the way music itself works, helps listening to jazz also.
do 9th chords and above sound blurry to you compared to triads?
if so you can change that by ear training over time and eventually notes after another or at same time will sound the same to you.
over time a stack of 12 notes will sound just as clear as 1 note after another note after another note.
