Ultra Super Compression for WAV files

    Can someone explain(or point to good resources) how I can compress my sample libraries to the smallest size possible for storage?

    kontakt? or just normal wav files? i normally just use NTFS compression which saves 20-40% of space for wav files.

    what sampler are you using because it depends on what your sampler will play if you are using Kontakt you can convert to the kontakt formate BUT then you can only play your sample in Kontakt then i would stay with WAV every thing plays WAV Just Get a bigger Hard Drive

    Very good results (better than 7z) can be achieved with KGB Archiver (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Compression-tools/KGB-Archiver.shtml) but it's damn slow and needs the fastest CPU on earth. But it's the best choice if you need long term, high density compression.

    I bet you can't find anything better in a suitable environment.

    Lol. Isn't that audio compression (and not data compression)?

    7zip, winrar, winzip, etc will work. Just adjust the ratio.

    Well i figured since it is audio he is compressing, it's worth looking at.
    It is lossless, has built in crc, and is very very fast.
    Whether it gets it smaller than zip or rar would need to test :mates:

    Oh, I thought it was lossy audio compression (that can't be "de-compressed" back to original quality).
    Well then, one might try that.
