For all the listens, likes and constructive advice. I now have a working demo for the collection.
Thank you. Inspired enough to move on

This is a good idea... Im listening on cheap headphones so will offer limited critiques on sound ...

The vocal treatment is a great idea but I feel in the absence of provided lyrics they wouldn't be understandable... So perhaps dial it down a bit... The song has a very daft punk feel... And i mean that as a compliment...

I found myself wishing for some variation in the main musical idea... Maybe a breakdown or something...

    Good job

Listening on expensive cans won't help you, no doubt in fact, precisely the opposite. lol
And I don't worry about the sound or mix, that's what studio monkeys are for.
Working title, so it's a demo, and I'm just working out the arrangement before I get down and dirty with the melodies. There's plenty of room for variation in there.
The vocal thing is here to stay for the demo version at least. It's the only way I can do it. Happy to let a singer lose one day.

    Thanks for the post. :shalom:

but seriously.. did you ever consider just doing the vocals un-bot'ed ? I think it would help your tracks some or... a lot..

overall nice sound, agree it could use a little "break"- ing up...

I wasnt referring to the singing... I was talking about the vocoder effect...

Thanks @Herr Durr, that's cool of you (especially the pic lol), and speaking to the same point as @Kinghtsurfer surfer, you just got to trust me on the vocal thing.
Honestly, my voice is worse than the worst fail on an idol audition could ever be. I just write what I hear and feel and let technology allow me to share it in a way that it at least gets across what I'm about. It's why I post lyrics.
I actually like the effect, but I'm so use to it by now it almost feels like my natural voice. lol

This is the first thing I've wrote in ages. I went through a spell of being at it non stop for a couple of years, and while it didn't burn me out, because it's what I do now, I just couldn't be bothered doing it.
I use to turn my gear on and do a Foster (no disrespect meant), and do a 16 bar loop, and just mess about and get to know my gear, then turn off without saving.

Hopefully when I finish this, I'll be inspired to go on the next one and so on and so on, like the old days.
Getting some good feedback certainly helps spark the fuel.

    Cheers guys.

    I'd say it's a typical Al1en signature track
I like the overall composition. As @Kinghtsurfer mentioned, maybe a little breakdown with a twist could be refreshing cool.
One thing I'm sceptical about is one note in the vocal line. The note of the words 'way, shape, shake, say' sounds for me to dissonant.
And since I have zero to none theoretical knowledge, I can't name the note :dunno::rofl:

Let's wait for the final

Typical Al1en signature track, now that's a compliment. Thank you

I'll check out those notes

I love it! Original overall sound. Just make the vocal a little clearer to understand.

track has a very good feel

    some ideas:

you could create an intro by repeatedly cycling the first two bars, that should create tension,
throw in short bits/cuts of the vocal, huge reverbs n stuff on top.

more variation, a break could be similar to intro, may a good time for some granular vocal action ?

    the dissonances :woot:

you can keep the vocal washed that hard if you like it that way, paired with a video + karaoke style lyrics, leads to interesting effects in our brain :)

Starts out decent, but the vocals and chords, esp. the second half of the first four lines needs attention.
The C# Al1en note is clashing comically with the Am and C chords. Change the C# to a C maybe.

I'm not shocked you spotted the flat, though @complete had noted it up page

So, fixed comedic clashing note. Added an ooh ahh bit.

Ahh now it's much more pleasing  I bet the mixing part is a nightmare, at least it would be for me.
Two more things I'd like to suggest.
1st, the song has a high energy level from beginning to the end. Maybe you can take some energy out in a few sections. For example like a mini break before the 2nd verse, a half bar only the drums, or something like that.
2nd, the frequencies where the voclas are, are very busy because of all the synth sounds. What I like to do with vocoders is, drop the notes from the vocoder line one octave and pick a simple saw as carrier. Then mix it a touch with the original, maybe you can gain a bit more clarity.
Well that's me, but I totally understand the pov of the artist. If you want it exactly the way it is, then it's an artistic choice. :winker:

I'm sure the finished track will be great.

The snare's pan seems to be shifted to the right side now, which is a bit irritating.

sorry to make you go flat since you weren't quite on the ball.......

A great Tim Pierce trick is to start from the loudest section, usually the last chorus, and work backwards production wise.

    @ @complete
I totally get where you're at and what you're saying. Truth is I don't mix outside of panning and relative volume levels. It's not lazy, more I don't have the ears for it, let alone the skill. I'm just happy writing demo songs to the point where someone with the requisite skills can do their work. Not a cop out, but play to your strengths, and all that.

Pleased with your input, though, like others have here, it's great to get positive feedback and suggestions. An inspirational life saver in fact.
