    1. So early reflection on reverb is the delay of the reverb? so whats a late reflection?

    2. What does early reflection or late reflection means and does (please layman's term only. as simple as possible explanation lol)

Also, do you need to remove/bypass early reflection when using a reverb on a send?

I'm not an expert, but essentially early reflections use to be undesirable reflections in general. Of course with reverbs are even more relevant. They also can mess the stereo result you want (or simply should be).

Early means reflected from some thing at a close distance, the sound has its speed and the closer the earlier.

Example: when sound from the left loudspeaker bounces off the right wall and arrives at the right ear.

Reverb is essentially a series of echoes, that again get reflected themselves.
While the reverb tail consists of so many reflected reflections that they melt into one sound, the first/early reflections are discernable. We've learned to draw information about the room from heraring them.

early reflection is the sound bouncing off the wall right next to you and hitting your ears slightly later, later reflection is the sound going ot the end of the hall wall hitting it and bouncing back to your ears with large delay.

BUT its not JUST delay. you get ambience of room characteristics with reverb, the materials of the room along with its size and shape determine how many times sound bounces and what times it all arrives how much highs or lows are in the sound that bounces ( carpet or marble?, wood walls or plaster walls/ etc.)

you can set up the reverb to mimic any area you want your sound to live in

(make the reverb send quiet so at end when you master it will get little louder but not audible it will make the sound 3d without sounding like reverb.
IF it sounds like there IS reverb (in full mix), then your reverb volume is too high.
(unless you want that specific 80's sound.)think madonna like a virgin

see how audible and loud the reverb is?
normally that is cheesy you actually want to not be able to hear it, ( it will greatly impact the audio by seeming like it is in a space, but not a canyon lol
you don't want your song to sound like you recorded it in your high school gym.

    1. The reverberation of a room.
    2. reflections from the source vs. reflections from reflections. The more predelay there is the bigger the distance from the sound source. The late reflections set the character and dispersion of the room (material, shape, furniture, dampening, complexity, etc).
    3. No. You might want to remove the direct source (meaning 100% wet reverb) if you are using it as a parallel send.

Anyone else here remember hearing, on old records, the start of a recording very quietly, a milisecond before the actual start? Tape caused that but I don't remember how or why. Not sure if it contributes to this thread, but the OP's question reminded me of that.
