I've gotten tired of OSX built in mail app, not functioning properly, asking for passwords to hotmail and gmail accounts time and time again, emails getting stuck in "outbox" instead of being sent and also taking up huge amounts of space by downloading all attachments as to make them searchable in spotlight.

Any suggestions appreciated. Being able to search without downloading email or attachments would be great.

    THANKS!

I use thunderbird as well and love it. I check 5 accounts with a single click.

One of the most flexible, and secure email app : yes Mozilla Thunderbird. Multiple accounts, programable filters of all kind, very easy to use.

Thanks for the suggestion filtersweep, I'll check it out.

Ok I'm trying it out thunderbird now and have a small question. One of my email threads got moved from the inbox to a folder called archive without my concent, I had to move it back one email reply at a time, has anyone else experienced this with thunderbird?
Could be I accidentally hit some quick command for archiving.

Could be, but it has worked for years for me too, then all of a sudden lots of problems and I haven't changed anything.

This is an excellent thread. I've been using MacMail as well and feel OP's pain. Even if the issues are rare or intermittent, if you try to send an email to someone and it gets stuck in the outbox without you knowing a huge problem can arise. I'm going to switch to Thunderbird

Have you looked at the connection doctor ? Personally I dont like to look of Thunderbird, and that you cant drag the whole header of the app.

I'm using thunderbird now, and find it alright for the time being. Thanks for your suggestions though, huschiwuschi.

I'll probably miss not having finder integration (pick a file in finder and click share), and it looks a bit old, but I like that it's open source.

Sparkmail seems slick and functional and all but their privacy policy is not so good, they collect information and sell it to third parties etc. That's why it's free I guess. But I do use Gmail and Outlook so who am I to be picky about privacy issues right? :winker:
