    Somewhat correct...

I actually run a Windows theme I designed most of the time, its black and deathly red.. so no color change entered into it...

your right about coincidences.. looks like I had a stick of RAM go bad.. pretty much the same day that Audioz had the issues.... whether it was related to my RAM going bad.. I doubt, but awfully coincidental.

Lastly, when i stated I may be back or not.. was related to whether I was going to be able to diagnose and remedy the problem, not at all that I would now feel unsafe there.

    Great post tho.. *yes*

After removing the last\end stick of RAM in my slots... I have been up and running for about 16 hours now. Hope I can survive with only 14 GB..

    Steady as she goes.. :grooves:

Hey bud, it seems like you didn't read all the posts in this thread.

Gee, at least a small thanks would be appreciated for those of us that wasted precious minutes of our lives trying to help you! *yes* *yes* *yes*

I read all the posts... but there were many too reply to, and I wouldn't have had a pertinent reply to yet..

If u knew the hell I had been to thru past few days, and the time, I have spent pulling my PC apart and back together again.. reinstalling hundreds and hundreds of Gigs... TWICE.. lol.. and the little sleep I am working on right now... maybe u can give me a little pass...

Naturally, I do appreciate everyone's attempts to help... you were more right overall, than anyone..

I know all about ungrateful people having spent the last 10 years trying to help folks out in a graphic forum I am active in.

Cheers folks.. and promise, I am grateful and had planned to post when I was all done with everything and was in a position to say it was finally fixed.

I believe it is now...

    :mates:

    back to installing..

first thing i install on a clean system is avp and firewall. i'm surprised someone with your experience didn't do the same

    AudioZ is absolutely 100% clean.

that's exactly why you can't be confident in your drive - because it's new *no* sometimes new drives fail and you have to return them to manufacturer (never happened to me though).

if you say your system works fine after you removed some RAM, it might have something to do with your "pagefile" settings. here's how you can disable it:
    http://img15.nnm.ru/e/b/1/2/3/c7636d5a35204a4ca0949d36b15.png

anyway, i doubt that's really a problem. most likely, you did not performed a full format with Automatic (Default) Allocation Unit Size.

To prevent copying files from one drive to another, what's left for you is to do a full "SMART defragmentation" using Raxco PerfectDisk, then check how it works.

if that doesn't help, use NTFS utilities from Hiren's Boot DVD.

System freeze like this leads me to think it's more like a bad sector on the drive.
Run a scan with the program HDD.Regenerator it can find and repair bad sectors for recovery.
But beware it is usually not a permanent fix... it is enough to repair and then recover files, but the drive is likely to fail again at some point in the future.

Hope this helps solve the issue!

    if you're on HDD - it probably will slow down your system's performance;
but if you're on SSD, it is a general advice to disable pagefile *yes*
