    Hi,

Does it often happen that a song is mastered by 2 mastering engineers? (and they are both credited for mastering of the song)

Do you know some examples where a song was mastered by 2 people (instead of 1)?

    It cant be possible .
If the first master the track to final that means its 0 db.u cant master again.
But is possible that u send same track 2 different master so u can choose Who is the best for u.they can send u back a little part of track finish mastered.so u can listen .

  4. ...or two people were in the room together making creative decisions. People share writting credits, more than one can play guitar in a song and have you ever heard the term " co-produced"? But to directly answer the op's question, I haven't knowledge of a song or compilation that entailed co-mastering though someone else 'round these parts probably does.

  5. You can get 2 stage mastering where the generic mixdown is mastered to a 'perfect' form and then a secondary mastering of that master to a given format is done by someone else, so for example you get a master for vinyl, which will be very different from a master for iTunes.

Yes, I meant a scenario in which 2 mastering engineers collaborate over the internet and they both make decisions about what processing to apply to the song.
E.g. the 1st engineer mixed the song and created a proper frequency balance (it seems the song only needs maximizing with a limiter and nothing else). And the 1st engineer sends the mixdown to a 2nd engineer who applies the final limiting and checks if anything else should be done. Then the 1st engineer receives a wav file of the master, and assesses the master(with his expertise), and decides that the song has too much hi-end boosted, such and such frequency band needs to be widened, 350Hz needs a 1,5dB cut with Q of 1.7 etc, etc.
Then, the 2nd engineer reads the 1st engineer's instructions and applies them to the song (inserts a EQ before the limiter to cut that 350Hz as the 1st engineer asked)

Of course the final limiting to 0dB is done only once (by the 2nd engineer), after they both agreed that the master is finished.

Both engineers should be credited for mastering that song, right?

  7. Yes. I guess that would be their objective if it was agreed to, otherwise last touch gets the credit.
