For me, Aggrotech has nothing to do with Vanguard or Zeta+. More like Diva, The Legend, Repro and various sound destroying FX.

Plus loads of weird samples, downpitched and generally fucked up, of course. I recommend TAL-Sampler for that...

I am guessing angry techno/industrial... Skinny Puppy / some of the later NIN with lots of screaming might cross over into aggro tech / Suicide Commando?

Drum machines with a touch of Gothic Metal.

Any synth will do, just pick one a learn the shit out of it, you'll go a lot further than if you just keep scratching the surface on 50 different ones. I would say the ones you listed or Spire will do the job just fine. The bit crushing. the distorted percussion, floppy bass drums and tonal mangling are going to give you the aggro sound. Modern synths and their plugin counterparts cover a lot ground.

  6. Yea, destroy the shit out of your vocals by passing them through heavily distorted virtual sharks in a feeding frenzy , eat a bottle of aspirin then sharpen up your JP-8000 saws with diamonds so that just by thinking about even listening to them will cause you to bleed out like a victim of Jack The Ripper. Drive nails into your ears, scratch out the speaker cones of your monitors and tear off your earlobes because you don't really need them, do you? That is Aggrotech. Welcome to the future of music :chilling:

Might be worth taking a look at Rob Papen's Raw.

Lots of detuning on the plucks. Try using a fast envelope on the pitch of the oscillators to add snap to a standard pluck (enveloped filter cutoff). Bit crushing. Distortion.

Pro tip: use distortions on particular frequency ranges (e.g. you leave the super lows of a sound undistorted but distort the low-mids, etc.)

ok so here's what you do, get tyrell (linked above or basically any vst with sawtooths, unison and detune) set the oscs to sawtooth and set osc 2 an octave higher than osc 1, set the synth to unison (about 4 voices) and detune it to taste, then use the pentatonic minor scale and make a leadline from that and let tyrell play it. next get a basssynth and create a bassline in the same scale and after that get your drumsounds, make a nice beat and distort it.

there is no need to distort the lead and bassline

you should be close to creating your own hocico/grendel/suicide commando type song

Hm, never heard of Aggrotech. Is it something like the genre we called Hardcore Tech back in the days?

Damn I loved that song when I was a boy (end of the 90's).
