After looking the photo I get the reason. It ships with the KODI soft, the best media center for pirating streaming services.

 

Since I first heard about the dragon box I considered it being a joke!

But it looks like Netflix and likes takes it VERY seriously so I guess it can actually stream completely free!

Isn't every computer a "pirate box to download Internet Content"? Maybe they should sue all the computer makers...

I used to use KODI [ex XBMC] for some time in Debian, but I got tired of it. It's easier to just browse to the content you want to play or download. I guess it's more for those "TV types", as you can set it up to work with a remote. I OTOH hate TV, with passion.

Edit: Oh, btw. this little box doesn't work that good, actually. You have to tinker with KODI and various plugins a lot to keep it working "as advertised".

So I really don't understand all the fuss. :shrug:

I bought an Android box just before Xmas on eBay. Didn't purchase it for streaming, just for checking emails and general stuff. No mention of it having Kodi installed, boot it up and one of the only apps installed is called TV Centre. Which is just a version of Kodi with every add on imaginable already installed. So I think savvy box producers have been scared by eBay removing products and the possibility that there's some lawsuits ahead.

 

Sure. Even if they've taken vows of poverty, shows cost money to make.
The less money they make, the less they have to spend on shows. Unless rich parents/trust funds.

-profit margin RATE loss (RATE word is very important, because profit are still strong for some companies. But margin on each product is going down)

Now you understand why worldwide industry (not only media) is going down : too many companies making almost the same thing AND profit margin down on each product/copy

That's called the end of capitalism. Or may be the beginning of another "ppl reduction" to "solve" another "economical crisis"...

 

People will reduce themselves, by going to McDonald's and the likes for food, because of necessity, or stupidity, or laziness to make food themselves.

Indeed, those guys are used to some hefty profit margins from the 90s and 00s, but now the profit margins are getting slimmer and all they can do is sue everybody and make cheap enough shows. It shows. The shows that interest me are getting more and more rare. They cater to the lowest denominator - an idiot, to get the most viewing rate.
