That day you find a theory or an experiment is flawed, its the day you published a research paper, get a promotion and get a raise.

And let all the Scientist around the world who wants to be smarter than you comes or with another theory or try to debunk you.
Not even the other part of the world, you own co-workers in the same department will be the first to try and debunk you.
That is how science works...

 

I Don't mean to sound all lovey dovey and stuff like let's all join hands and make a circle and sing joy to the world and understand each other! Obviously we do differentiate in our opinions but at least let's agree to differ without it resorting to a slagging match.

One thing I heard from Richard Dawkins--

One of my professor around 55 years (lets just say he is old with white hair) at the time, have this hypothesis/theory which he have worked on for nearly 20 years (Thats like more or less his whole life) which he believed to be correct and wrote many research papers on this but is was kinda shaky on the review - not completely debunked but not completely true.
He used to tell all his students at their first year and that he could help them on this research paper on their PhD if they want to continue.

One day, a young American guy from another University in his early 30's came and show him his research papers on the old man's theory and told him he was wrong.
He glanced at the papers, stand in silence for a moment, He took out his hand and shake the young man's hand and said
"Sir, I wished to thank you, I have been wrong these 20 years ."
We stand up and we all clapped our hands Raw.

This is what science is all about. Somebody who have invest a lot, almost all his life in his theory was rejoicing to be proven wrong.
And this is why Science works, and the best system we have got/created as there are no authority.

I just want you and everyone to know how science works.

Man that is awsome. It just goes to prove that we can all hold on to something steadfastly and have total faith and belief until one day someone comes along and shatters our illusion. No matter what, this forum throws up these types of topics from time to time and we can either engage or ignore. I tend to ignore the subjects that don't hold my interest and let others respond if they wish. It doesn't bother me either way as there's always something else I can pay attention to.
