Don't forget to thank your congressman and the great pumpkin, you are going to love the new slower and more expensive internets so much you'll want to vote for them more than once next election cycle.

Perhaps, but different countries, different rules.

I am not certain what rules you have in Germany, and this might trickle down to you or not, but the FCC has nothing to do with your internet unless you've recently moved to the good'ole USA recently.

You still have some, they are different, you also have better internet for less, we now have more expensive internet and less protections from predatory practices from ISPs. Perhaps it is for the best, I would say people can now know what a vote buys them, but most people are too dumb.

I meant worldwide. Lets be real, a few corporations own the world, its a pessimistic view but look around you, its a dark world.
EU laws are becoming similar to US laws though.
Unless we start laying down our own cables we wont be able to do shit, they own the network, the towers, the ISP providers.
The moment you sign on with your ISP provider you are in their waters, to think of an idea of net neutrality in 2017/18 is utopian.

Conspiracy is the secret planning by a group of people to do something illegal, often for political reasons.

I have a question for you as an specialist in these kinds of theories and many more.
Is FCC establishing a new version of conspiracy? What's their goal exactly?

There is no conspiracy, nothing is hidden. ISP want the ability to charge you and companies extra to access a premium lane. Weather that is because you use a lot of bandwidth (Video Streaming, Music Streaming, Digital Software delivery) they feel that it is only fair that the people who provide these services should pay the gate keepers for providing them people with internet.

Internet access was classified as utility, meaning that just like a telephone line you can charge for service but all service is the same. You can't have a more expensive phone that allows you to call who you want regardless of who they use for service, or a cheaper phone that only allows you to call the people who use the same carrier as you have to suffer long distance charges or other fees if you want to call someone outside your network... even if they are your next door neighbor.

ISPs were not loosing money on internet services, they just wanted a way to expand potential capital earnings, being classified as communications utility - like a telephone made some of those avenues problematic. ISPs have stated in the past and even more so recently, that they want to offer internet service on the same manner they offer cable television. If you like to stream video you can use Verizon FIOS Cable to stream (why would stream from Amazon or Netflix) if you choose to go out of network and use the other services then you should have to pay Verizon and so should Amazon and Netflix because by not using FIOS TV Cable you are making Verizon loose money. It has nothing to do with bandwidth usage, they were never loosing money on bandwidth. You might still be able to access Amazon Video or Netflix through your normal non-premium internet connection but now Verizon has the ability to legally limit your bandwidth so that you can not watch in HD, or even limit you to the point that you can not watch without constant interruption (if you could have proven this before with IFA-S2 they would have gotten a fine and a reprimand) unless you pay them.

There is no conspiracy, none of this is secret. As always it's not malicious in itself, it is just about money. What is malicious is the propaganda and the 1/2 truths that were used to get the repeal and the blatant abuse of power and corniesim at the FCC. This is about big business making more money but it was promoted as for the American people by the people who love the small guys, etc. . . I can even keep typing without wanting to throw up now.

    It is what it is...

    Fail?

This excrement will trickle down, definitely. We're on our way to "heaven" on Earth. And not many people care, judging by their apathy. Facebook is more interesting... Oh well... We'll get what we deserve. Maybe "Crysis" will help? Combined with some dope. [no it won't]

It's hard to convey how bad I feel about this and combined with all the other "ingredients"... some with ridiculous orange hair and a brain size of a chestnut in their pants, man we're so nicely fucked and people are standing still, eating their usual cheap garbage, drinking their usual cheap poison, doing their usual nothing.

"Money makes the world go round, the world go round, the world go round..." ["Cabaret"]

    Cheers! :headbang:

A close-internet is close to, and think as if, you are living in the world without the computer network.

Yep, my monthly internet bill just tripled and I am no longer able to access this site due to predatory ISP practices. Also, the sky is literally falling. We are all doomed. Literally.

    @Herr Durr

Not clicking that link, ffs might as well be linking to stormfront, or brietbart alternate universe it's the same shit.

I am sorry if that offends your sensibilities, but it is what it is.

Political speech is not the same as hate speech... if someone wrote 'Ajit Pai shoule be <insert bad thing here> because he is a head dot having idol worship brown POS,' I would strand right by you and say Twitter (which I have no love for and do not even use, because I need the few brain cells I still have) would be in breech of the policy they have taken as of late of on censoring of strong hate speech.

For the most part though, Twitter out of all the tech edge networks is very hands off. They are more reactionary than proactive... point in fact most the that alt-right movement was coordinated on twitter. Besides unless you start paying to use Twitter comparing them to ISPs is like comparing chicken testicles to nuclear warheads.

With all due respect... please do not derail or hijack this thread.

You can start an other one on Twitter and your perceived notion that censorship on a free to use platform of which you have many to choose from is a bad thing and why.

    Sincerely,

    M
