Well, all tracks are by default stereo. You can make it [double] mono if you tinker with the routing of each plugin in a fx rack, which can be annoying if you don't create mono presets for all of the plugins you'd like to use in mono. It's not really "ommission", indeed, because technically there are mono tracks in Reaper. It's just that you have to make your own mono fx presets and track presets to be able to have mono tracks quickly. I must admit I am a bit lazy regarding that when I'm working on a project. It distract me too much having to tinker with the plugin routing. But hey, I took some time to make all the presets and now it doesn't seem so bad.

    ReaPack script repository manager also

thousands of scripts have been written to it over the past years (comping, track versions, MIDI ones, chord ones, modulations etc. etc. etc.)

do u nee chords in the MIDI editor ... done

or do u need FL like free MIDI note slicing...done
    [IMG]

do u need cross track modulation ... done

so there is script for/to literally everything ... without nice DAW integration :) if u can live with it ...

As a non-geeky reaper user I can't understand the difficulty people talk about with it's use. Perhaps my needs are superficial and I dont use all the potential power.
I never use loops which seem to be the thing that have created the market for bedroom beatmakers so don't do any time stretching or manipulations to items along those lines , but as well as recording instruments, i use a lot of vsti's and as my keyboard playing is crap, do a lot of midi editing which seems like all the other daws (which i have tried thanks to sister).
If i need to be able to do something with reaper that's not there by default, I find a tutorial and do it parrot fashion, you don't need to understand scripting to be able to use it, just which folder to put the script in. But this would equally apply to setting up preferences which you do in all daws anyway.
Then for me comes the magic. You save the way you have everything set up as a single config file which contains everything unique to your setup including themes track and project templates, any non-default instrument or toolbar icons you may have picked up on the way. And then when you need to re-install os or move to a new pc which can be quite a while later and you've forgotten what you did, you don't have to do it all again from scratch.
I have to admit I did try S1 for its melodyne integration (voice isn't great either) but even that wasn't enough
to make me change and now reaper will have that soon anyway.
As an aside, I found PT how you would expect it to be. Don't dare change what the 'professionals' are used to even in the interests of efficiency.....what was it? 3 buttons to add a new track 2 more to choose type 2 more for mono or stereo.....and they call those shortcuts!
As for reapers gui......you don't look at the mantle when you are poking a fire

I need to set default input velocity to 100, not 127 as it is now, because i'm working with battery and i'm tired to get heart attack every time when i'm inserting new midi note for kick/snare/etc. That's why editig velocity after inserting is a bad answer.

Is there a way to do this Inside reaper? Or this trivial task requires some extra scripting?

If you insert first note and set velocity to any value any new will be at that level.

So the 127 velocity torture on the first note can't be avoided. Sweet.

Some things supposed to be proper right from the start. I feel rage and pain, pain and rage.

How to change midi note color?

If you really want to use Reaper, you are free to ask here. But you are here pin pointing everything. Wondering the pain you suffer when clicking to insert a note. You must wait for a daw which integrates with google now or siri. That only can make you feel better. :bleh:
Reaper is a serious DAW, like Ableton and Studio One. Ableton has fastest workflow but you can make Reaper faster if you know how to do it. All DAW's are meant to be different and their developers want to make their software unique. Reaper can't perfectly behave like Ableton or any other DAW. But you can get very close which no other DAW can do. Reaper allows me to configure it to my workflow needs, which is fastest for me. It gives options which no other DAW gives.

@DanielFaraday There should be a JS MIDI plugin that transforms velocity value on its way in, so just put it in front of Battery in the fx rack. I actually have the control over velocity on my MIDI controller, both of them - Akai MPD32 and Novation Remote and it's easy to change it, one button press on MPD32. Have you considered changing that?

Edit: I looked at the JS effects and within seconds found two MIDI plugins that can do what you ask: Velocifier II and VelocityControl. There could be more. So just put that in front of Battery and save a track template, done. Next time just load this track template instead of just Battery.

Turn on swing grid and "start of measure" grid line will disappear. Why this is happening?

I saw fail, i pointed on that fail. What's the problem?

Yes i saw. You can limit input velocity with few handy midi JS plugins
    [IMG]

But it's not helpful in my case. I don't need to record midi notes with fixed velocity value. I need to draw notes in piano roll with pre configured velocity value. Something like this

When you're introducing reaper as an outstanding limitless platform, be ready that someone will check this. And that's an answer of sixteen years old girl. Why i can't loop stretch markers/item envelopes with media item?

I'm asking something only after checking their own forum. And most of the time threads with similar questions have only one answer: "reaper doesn't have this feature". So, seems like "reaper can do anything" is just a fancy slogan.

When I asked if Ableton has vst3 support, your reply was get a decent vocalist. What reply you expected from me? I was answering in your own way. Seems like you don't want to know, you only wan't to bash. No DAW is outstanding limitless platform. Every DAW has different workflow which suits to different people. "My DAW is Best" is an endless debate without any conclusion.
I know Reaper 30-40% and I know almost everything about Ableton. Still I can do more in Reaper than Ableton. Reaper supports scripting which means you can do almost anything.
You can copy and paste, which is more logical in this situation and not difficult to do.
Maybe, but you can do more things than any other DAW. It is the most powerful DAW.

Another pro vs con for Reaper is constantly updated videos explaining basic to advanced features.
When you cannot find it in the manual or, just need a quick refresher, just head here:

No, it's not logical. In situation where you need to apply stretch marker to looped material in arrangement, reaper will build markers for the all entire loop length, instead of just one source file.

Probably your knowledge about Live's possibilities is less complete than you think, or i really have zero clue what are you doing in reaper. I can't implement even half of things that i can do in Live/SO/Cubase. And I'm not even talking about rapid composing in live's session view, super awesome sampler track in cubase or godlike Melodyne with ARA. Just some typical stuff.

I'm not ableton/presonus/steinberg fighter. I'm just pointing on some obvious and fat limitations of "the most powerful DAW".

I was answering in your own way. Because when i'm asking about how to select few tracks and adjust send level on all of them at once, i want to hear something like: "you can't achieve this in reaper yet", not the "B level jokes" about vst3 in Live. Life must be hard for you.

Yes you can, if you know how to. For example, people were using automation clips in Reaper way before it was officially released via scripting. Scripting is powerful addition to Reaper and no DAW can beat it in terms of workflow customizability. Reaper has macros by which you can perform multiple sequenced actions by clicking single button.
If you want stretch markers for same loop every time, there is a way in Reaper to do it. Not by dragging like in Live but by copying and pasting clips which is easy ctrl+c then ctrl+v or ctrl+click and drag. It means, reaper can do this, but differently.
Can Ableton do automation clips? Can Ableton do spectral editing? Does Ableton have spectral peaks? NO! That's a straight NO, that's why Reaper is most powerful and flexible. You don't like it, cool, I respect that but not your child like behaviour.

Go and watch this video if you haven't:-
