    Free nootropics for everyone. Ha.

Nah, I think people just get burned out discussing the same topics over and over again. "Which DAW is the best?", "Analog is better than digital", "vinyl is better than CD", etc. There's a lack of timely and relevant threads and a lack of highly developed threads. A good portion of stuff posted is just people wanting kudos for their Soundcloud post of the day or bromance between members, classic arguments that have been done ad nauseum, or trolls, bored kids, and straight-up drama queens.

In short, bad signal to noise ratio, but that's really endemic to most forums and human culture in general. In my opinion, getting a few hardcore members recruited is the key. You need to build a stable of a few expert and/or respected members who have highly valuable content and do something special to retain them while at the same time not giving them enough privileges to make them think they're gods among men--not easily achievable without lots of luck.

Well, that's the last time I report on R2R's emotional status ("R2R is angry..."). lol. Sorry. I just freaked out when I read the *.NFO file and felt the need to be Paul Revere on that one.

It's been a long time I didn't take the time to read a five pages thread on this forum.

It's so true that something needs to be done and there were many good ideas posted here. Hopefully, the mods will be able to apply some of these.

I have been a member for almost four years now and am very proud to belong to this community. Despite the ups and downs, I am not planning to leave anytime soon, I only post much less than before due to what was mentioned previously.

Hopefully, things will be sorted out very soon. Oh, and I also miss OneReason among others.

Considering it was me who put up this thread, I suppose I'm part of the problem.

    ---
OK guys, let's distill the raw Gin from this thread. Here are the suggestions laid out:
    • Make the forums completely free of warez discussion and have one category dedicated to that (similar to lounge), which would be accessible only for active members (above 15 posts)
    • Rework the rating system to encourage more positive ratings (replace 'nasty' with 'objectionable') and for negative ratings user should put an short explanation (minimum 10 characters) and only then they'll be able to submit
    • Have an annual community oriented project
    • Posts in Our Music category would get a priority in Audiosex feed
    • To have the option to post, new users would have to first introduce themselves in "introduce yourself" part of forum. Very brief description would suffice (above 60 characters)
    • some extra rewards for long time members (collective subscription to image hosting services?)
    • (Von_Steyr) - Posting threads should be limited to 1 per week for all members, new and old.
    • (Von_Steyr) - First ten posts from new members should be approved before posted
    • (Von_Steyr) - Each first post(thread)from the OP that gets more than ten dislikes or disagrees should be alerted to mods for a review, just to be sure.
    • (Fudsey Plange) - Keep Scene discussions off public view on this site.
In case I missed some, let me know. If not, I'll make them into a poll so we can start voting.

Please do not mess up with the rules... they are the reason this forum is what it is.

If You feel the need to do something, just ban the few offending members and be done with it.

    @Rhodes
My suggestions were specifically designed to not to interfere with the community flow, only to give form to decentralized warez discussion and stopping unsolicited mass downvoting, while at the same time giving the spotlight to community veterans and contributors.
Even if I don't agree with Von_Steyr's suggestions, I think it's a fair play to list them.

At the end all is good...
I feel that new fellow members reading this discussion now or in the future will understand that this site/forums are based on "ethos" & respect.

Besides, we don`t need that rating thing... it looks like facebook ?!? remove that and problem solved if downvoting is the issue here.

Members can always reply with I agree or I don`t agree with you ...or not ???

Rating is good, only misses a small "like a boss" tony montana, rating.

    Seriously though.
AS and AZ are one of the last sites fighting the current worldwide shut down of similar content. There are others yes, but not as nearly as developed as these two.
Posting so much warez stuff on AS will just bring too much heat, plus it makes it look like this is all what is about.

But I don't think any pro musician wants to participate in forum-based discussions. Generally web chats cause tempers begin to fray and those nice emotions to wither away. A thing that is vital for any good musician.:dunno:

    here is a little suggestion,
let things be as it is for now until the end of this year,
    maybe that way everyone's ideas,thoughts can grow & mature(in a positive way),
i agree with so much warez stuff here can cause problems(AZ for that ).
I really like the "visuals" of Audiosex(how it looks) is it always pleasant reading & on the eyes, thank you for that

    Beth! Yo!

Fun fact: I'm from the same town as Taylor Swift. We went to the same high school. She hung out with all the popular girls and then went and wrote a bunch of songs about how she wasn't popular :dunno:

    Double post btw... oops

I really like the thinking behind this, but it might be bad for people who just need to sign up to make one thread to ask a detailed question about how to make such and such crack or keygen work, or whatever. It also seems to run counter to the whole idea that attracted a lot of us to this site in the first place.

tbh I'd agree with whoever said that they don't think it's a good idea to change the forum just to deal with a handful of assholes. Once upon a time, this forum was an idyllic quaint little place where everyone got along and people never argued (except foster and whoever that other guy was that flamed each other for 20 pages over a disagreement in music theory lol). But that's really, really unusual. Now that we have some trolls and douchebags we're officially part of the internet. Congrats AS!

@bluerover lol I wasn't saying anything is bad about it. Just it's funny that that old conversation is always getting resurrected.

p.s. What happened to sunshine? He still come around at all?
