Does this format of analogue synth appeal to you?

Trueno (from the Spanish for thunder) is USB powered and is, say WS Audio, the first of its kind. It is controlled through a VST/AU plugin and uses a built-in 24-bit ADC to output the audio directly from the plugin.

Will Shaw, Trueno's designer explains: "It works just like any other plugin, it's a really quick and easy way for musicians to get authentic analogue sounds into their music."

Trueno's features include a 3 oscillator analogue synth, digital additive mode with 256 waveforms; AM, PWM and filter FM; 6 envelope generators and 4 LFOs as well as digital flanger, phasor, chorus, delay and reverb effects.

Trueno will be available in Europe in early December 2017 from Amazon (UK, FR, ES, DE and IT) and will retail for £139.99 / €159.99.

  3. It sounds rather marvelious for such a small footprint and the filters sound pretty nice. What a great idea.

And I guess that I better start to think about my campaign if I will be challenging the staus quo in 2020. With you as my Press Secretary I know that my message will be put out there in a concise yet simple manner so that we can have those from disparate corners of the political spectrum with us to forge a new era of inclusiveness, where our government impliments policies that will build us up from the center of our powers of goodness and thoughtfulness though without an obtuse and unobtainable agenda. I know that we can make this happen. Let the future begin...now!

I don't get it! So basically the USB works like an E-Licenser to avoid piracy or it is like a processor for the plugin?
I like how it sounds in the demos.

The USB stick is the synth, so yes all powered and processed on there.
the plugin is just an editor/controller (although the only was to control) for the synth, so would use minimal CPU resources on you PC. it is analogue at heart and although it uses up a USB port, it doesn't use any inputs up on you audio interface.
    hope that helps

edit: on closer inspection looks like the plugin does do some digital processing as well which i think would use some CPU on you PC (things like flanger, phasor, delay, reverb)

well... it seems win10 has gained ground lately...not that it partially owes something to ~500mil. new pcs sold the last two years with win10 pre-installed... nah, it's progress...but oops, whats this?
