Anyone heard of reverse engineering a song? Could that be possible to fall into cheating on this category of making music? What about reverse engineering for doing musical analysis and gaining educational purpose in contrast to reverse engineering entirely for musical productions? Any thoughts?

@Futurewine , do you really care? I do it all the time, mindlessly pore through/loop tiny bits of old tunes I neither like nor hate, trying to figure out what makes them tick. Like learning how stuff works by ripping it apart/throwing it back together is a kind of reverse engineering, I guess.

Yep and the band is amazing too. Another factor that amazes me,is apart from the more recent recruits, the core band is together for 35 years. They put on a fab show. An exercise in both discipline and musicianship partnered with unparalleled style Sade and her band, play some of the most sophisticated pop music ever.

Saw her in the early 90's (?) at Radio City Music Hall after scoring a pair of tickets from calling into a radio station. She was amazing, her band was amazing, and when I met her backstage for the inclusive meet and greet that was part of the winning caller/ticket package, was amazed that her face was full of freckles.

@Lambchop Making fun of discipline and musicianship because (perhaps) it's wrapped in an slick clean style is a teen's pov. I'm all past my teen angst, thnx a lot. It is obvious Tragic Mulato never gave a fuck how they sound. They were there to make some noise just for fk of it. And as Wendy and the Plasmatics showed long before the Mulato chick (although if i recall she was friends with Biafra) it only takes some tits, a chainsaw and an amateur band to make some noise and have people coming to your gigs. Btw, Sade, despite having been a sex symbol for at least a decade, never had to rely on cheap porn antics or onstage delirious acts of rage, to impress.
For some people playing music is much more than blowing steam off.
My answer meant that if this is your definition of discipline musicianship and style, then it is nothing more than a teen joke. Made me laugh nevertheless, hence i answered with a similar(to me) earlier example.

What can I say? I got shit taste; (unironically) love bands like Tragic Mulatto, while Sade does nothing for me.
In her defence, even real, classically-trained opera divas (which is to say not fashion junior college -educated ex-models), ones respected and adored by real, classically trained musicians, don't do it for me. Much to my shame.

I just remind myself that all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, and then it don't seem so bad. One day, I'll learn to enjoy ̶d̶a̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶m̶e̶r̶c̶i̶a̶l̶ ̶p̶a̶p̶ ̶ quality, mature music made by well-trained, critically acclaimed professionals, but for now... well, a boy can dream
