That sound from 0:38 on? Sounds like a something from an FM Synth. The 'plucky' attack is done with a compressor (experiment with attack time). And some stereo trick is in there.. could be slightly detuned and panned or something like that, you get the idea..
So look for some yamaha dx7 sample libraries or try fm8 from native instruments... If you're not into programming an fm synth go for the presets (fm, dx bass). They are a pain in the ass for creating sounds from scratch.

You can probably find this as preset its not original type bass by any measure. Just dig around. FM8 /Massive / Repro / TAL - whatever syth you have you wont have to dig too hard to find that bass.

If you play bass you can do with an octaver bass pedal or have even more freedom with something like EH Synth9 Pedal.

As you said, it's a simple plucky bass sound. Nothing difficult and nothing that a similar sound wouldn't suffice.

I hear two sounds - simple bass (fm?) + percussion sound played in parallel.

Just layer two or three basses. FM8 -> browser -> bass and you'll find some within minutes

Even as a guitar player I can tell it is a typical DX sounding bass.
maybe it's time to give up?

    Ok, two problems

    1. the shorter the sound the more important are minimal parameter changes.
Youu have to look for one or more sounds that a basically close and adjust them..
    2. From the synth you hear just the preset, in the record you hear a probably adjusted sound, it is mixed and mastered.

Conclusion: it's very unlikely that you will find a bass in a synth that sounds more than ~ 80% like the one in the record, probably even less. You just have to work on it. And if they made something that you do not recognize like for instance more or less oscillators, other kind of detune, a bit of chorus, early reflections, subtle layering or whatsoever you will never be able to duplicate this or any other sound exactly even if you've got the same sound source which matters too. Besides, the question is if this is really neccessary.

Furthermore I think there's some synth pizzicato or percussion sound on top.

And be aware that to make a distinctive bass sound is a very difficult task.
